I can find reasons to be annoyed by the motivations for Juneteenth becoming a federal holiday (some of which don't relate to the history/slavery at all and arose out of modern racial stupidity).
But I really don't understand those who are angry/annoyed about designating a federal holiday for the end of slavery. It doesn't have to be the perfect signifier, I understand it was a Texas-only thing forever, etc. etc.
It's a perfectly fine basis for a holiday IMO. Sounds dumb. Might be most loudly pushed by dumb people. But the concept is fine by me.

Sounds dumb. Might be most loudly pushed by dumb people. But the concept is fine by me.
My only drawback is it being a mid-week holiday instead of on a Monday/Friday. I get why (obviously) but I wasn’t going to take off today when the 4th falls on a Friday this year.

Is anyone besides the government? I legitimately did not know today was a holiday until I saw this post this evening.
I didn't think anyone but government & schools take off for things like Juneteenth, Columbus Day, MLK, & President's Day.
