Are we in the best or worst era of American advertising/marketing?

Mad Men-esque if you ask me

I don’t know about best but I do love the shite talking companies do to each other on Twitter. Wendy’s is probably the best at it.

Worst. I’d love to know how the founding fathers would view our world today. Prescription drug commercials every break, massive billboards everywhere, corporate naming rights on stadiums and arenas, etc.
Everything is sold to you everywhere. Even when you don’t know it.

we’re in the age of trying too hard. 90% of advertisements are cringeworthy. But there are some that are pure gold like the Bud Light dilly dilly commercials and the one with the soccer slide.

Some of it is so small-scale I wonder if it's effective, but it does amuse me.
If anyone follows Middle Class Fancy on Instagram (they do starter pack memes and stuff) they'll know that they have some advertising relationship with Chilis, despite very openly mocking the idea that Chilis is a nice restaurant for a segment of the country.
On some level there is a lot of self-parody/self-realization going on, which I appreciate

No thanks, I'll just have a stiff drink

Doesn't matter if it is small-scale if people see it. How long does a tweet take to generate vs how many people will it reach?
Even negative publicity is good in a lot of cases

The media side would say that it's the best based on the amount of data available for marketing analytics and programmatic media buying enabling very effective audience targeting. The consumer side is the worst given that you're assaulted at every turn when just trying to live your daily life. It gets pretty damn creepy at times.

Not everyone lives to be mad at everything.

It's pretty bad. Almost all advertising appeals to low level thinkers. most is cringeworthy

You shut your whore mouth

No. All of America’s commercials are required to have gay or interracial couples and we all know diversity is our strength

There is much more opportunity but companies and their ad agencies have taken that opportunity to produce garbage.

That was literally the worst and stupidest ad campaign I've ever seen. Mouth breathers that loved it just made it annoying

The first one was funny.
The ones during the super bowl were awful.
