Is that opinion based on hard data?

New tech the last few years has just been adding cameras, screens, and wifi to items previously undigitalized. It was cool at first (ring doorbells, backup cameras), but now it’s just ridiculous. I don't need my washing machine connected to my home wifi.

My comment was based on our inability to power the new "AI data centers"

Didn't Musk come out with a chip to help blind people see?
That's pretty cool.

Foldable screens seem like a fairly big deal.

Tech feels stagnant because we currently can't make processors significantly more powerful

But what will tech do with more powerful processors? They'll make Genmoji or some other useless (to anyone but influencers and teenagers) feature.

We live in a world where people are paranoid about Windows 11 and the "new" Outlook. The masses have repeatedly proven they're reluctant to try even moderate upgrades or shifts in even the presentation layer of tech, and we expect huge shifts?

What is the next massive going to be, Ready Player One type immersion? Wearable tech has a lot of room to grow right now.

Outside of robot servants I cant see any next big tech gadget revolutionizing things.

The smartphone kinda tapped out what our current tech was capable of.

New tech (AI) is needed for new inventions

I think the AI race has taken much corporate resources and focus. I suspect when its more widespread, we will see new products coming out that can utilize it, and will blow anything we use today away.

The only way it'll get pushed is when the major cell companies start pimping wearables the same way they do "new" phones. I just don't think they have a reason to. Outside of <5% of users, do any Apple Watch users care about afib detection, for instance? Whatever it is needs to appeal to intellectually stunted consumers.

We've gone through a couple of generations of smart glasses, and nobody cares, even if they don't seem to care about the privacy issues.

When there is a tech that keeps self driving cars out of the left lane unless they're passing a car, I'll invest quick fast.

We are living in the echo of the invention of the steam engine, transistor / semiconductors and antibiotics.

Next great innovations will involve the harnessing of gravity, fusion power, and holographic projections.
