1. They work so people will take them unlike cholesterol medications you can tell when they are working.
2. some are genetically predisposed to the craving of opioids
3. you will not die from pain

Yes, so you should use them whenever you want. After all, you were born that way.

Hence the reason some love the euphoria & want more, while others hate the way it makes them feel & dread having to take them when needed. If genetically predisposed, just a pill or a drink overwhelms the happy/reward sensors that cause intense & constant cravings.

I judged addicts as weak & making excuses until my brother helped me understand that I'm no better or stronger just bc I was able to go out drinking every wknd & not look back after 25. Addiction as a disease is complex & impossible for others to understand the relentless craving but I am more grateful for never having had that monkey on my back.

No, that's just something wealthy white people addicted to pain pills say to themselves so they don't feel like the crackhead in NBR, even though there isn't a difference.

Do you suffer from chronic pain?

I do.... i had a doctor that wanted to prescribe fentanyl and pain meds because of how jacked up my body is. Decided not to go down the fentanyl path and stick with percs.

I was prescribed Vicodin once for a sprained ankle/fractured leg. I tried some ibuprofen the first night and felt fine so I shelved the prescription.

I get euphoric. No itch. No hangover. No munchies. Just a nice warm pleasant feeling, both optimistic and energetic.

we have special receptors in our brains for them

And spine, even the digestive tract. Not as widespread as cannabinoid receptors, but we were designed to enjoy these things. Bad news to those drinkers out there, no alcohol receptors.

Yes

Along with a lot of other things society has been trying to wean mankind from.

It's as if human nature needs to be conquered to be acceptable.

I'm no scientist, but I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but the other way around. Based on our knowledge of biochemistry, opiates are designed to elicit a specific reaction/sensation.

There is a genetic factor that goes into people becoming addicts, if that is what you are asking, and it's probably more of a factor than you think.
