Every other charity is fighting cancer. This shite has been going on for decades. Cancer is still kicking our assess.

I think the people who run this shite figured this out a long time ago, take our money and go to buy strippers and blow

We successfully treat many cancers every year with a surgical blade.

I mean we have beat certain kinds of cancer. Society just kind of lumping all cancers together has always been kinda weird to me, as they show up in a bunch of different places and different ways.

Cancer is not one thing. It is a general name for a class of disease. Many types have become treatable. But no we are never going to beat all forms of human ailment. People will always get sick and die.

There isn’t one “cancer” therefore we aren’t ever going to beat “it”.

Such a tired answer. If a pharmaceutical company could treat every cancer with a pill, they would be a multi billionaire.

There are quite a few types of cancers that have been "beat". Colon cancer for instance is highly treatable, provided that people get colonoscopies regularly when they reach their 50's.

That's part of the problem though, that people will wait until things are advanced before seeing a doctor. Lance Armstrong's ball was the size of a grapefruit before he went to get it checked.

Eventually we will, but through genetic manipulation. This will be a hundred years down the road however.

We will soon be able to treat most cancers to make them more of a chronic condition.

more lucrative treating every cancer with a different pill than the same pill.

They aren't in the business of solving the problem. They are in the business of profiting.

I work in research for Pharma, and there isn't an individual that I work with that doesn't take the role they play with as any else than trying to save lives.

I can't speak for the company, but the employees that are there are working for friends and family members who may one day or is currently suffering from this scourge.

Is that why iPhones never break and they last forever? Or why every update of PlayStation has just a couple things changed from the previous model?

What’s better their business, a returning customer or a one and done?

This treatment is an outpatient surgical procedure in which the patient will suffer 3-4 days of flu like symptoms.

Yeah, people just talk nonsense about keeping the customer returning. Like somebody wouldn’t want to be a multi billionaire and go in the history books forever for “curing cancer.”

Most people that think we should have a "pill" to cure cancer by now don't realize that we have a long list of diseases besides cancers that still don't have a permanent cure. Other than those that have been eradicated through the use of vaccines, and things that can be treated with antibiotics, everything else is still treated as a chronic condition. Quit taking your medication and your problem returns, but being able to treat some cancers in the same way as diabetes, and high blood pressure will be a big step.

There are all kinds of novel treatments currently under investigation. Biologics, cell therapy, and physiological (like the one you linked) will change the outlook we have over cancer in the next decade.

I am not sure if there will ever be a complete preventative of cancer ( it will always happen naturally just reality)

But I think we will form better technoloy that will allow us to catch cancer at its earliest steps and be able to treat the most difficult

Its slowly makin its way there. There is so much in the workss that people don't even know. A lot of success with these clinical trials at MD Anderson.

The issue is there are 100's of different types of cancer and each works differently in different people. Its not a simple one fits all approach. Medicine will likely become much more individualized

Treatments continue to drastically improve every year, a lot can happen too within the next 5 years. Even for stuff like Diabetes and AIDS its improving dramatically

The one I linked is getting very close. Been doing animal tissue trials at LSU vet school for a while. They're doing human tissue trials now.
