My daughter was born with and beat cancer with the help of some great doctors. It was worth every penny and I hope they spent it on blow and hookers!!!!

Yup
People don't realize how much 10$ impacts research and developments of treatments, every little bit counts.
It may seem like we don't find much compared to what we do cure but its worth every penny
Without donations we would never reach this far in medicine and we would be way worse off today.

Nope. Not without some Star Trek medical shite.
But to pretend that all that money has gone to waste and we are just as ill equipped against cancer as we were 30 years ago is also completely false.
Back then, cancer was almost a death sentence. Just a question of buying some time.
Now you can at least fight most cancers.

I'm a mix of grateful, optimistic, realistic, and pessimistic. My stepdad and I were both diagnosed with cancer less than a year ago. He's 80 and I'm 43. I was state IV and he III. It was enough to kill my poor mother. We are both now cancer free.
So we are doing some things well. But we still know very very little about cancer. The whackadoo theories online are as comforting as the shoulder shrugs I got from my world-class oncologist.

Everybody has the “cancer gene”. It’s just a mutation of one piece of genetic code that creates cancer.
So to answer your question...no we will never beat it. We can only hope to continue to catch it early and treat it.

My brother was diagnosed in 2004 and died in 2012. I can't imagine the money that it cost..After he died my SIL received a bill for $180,000+..I think since he died it was forgiven..

I work in the field and can tell you with 100% certainty that if there was such a thing as a “cure” for any cancer, and a pharmaceutical company had the IP, they would develop it and bring it to market faster than you could imagine. And the FDA would do everything in their power to remove all roadblocks.
