Yeah, usually folks that are that ugly haven’t dated lots of people or even get the opportunity to. So, when they do find a great person to be with, they stay with them.

only basing the question on couples i know, and not what i've seen randomly in public, i'd say that the majority of the populace bats within 2.5-3 points up or down of themselves on the hotness scale.
i'd say usually men play above their level more often than women, but i know a few good/decent looking guys that are with some women they could do much better than if they were back on the market. that probably is the woman going through child birth and the male maintaining his fitness/looks.
there was a time where we lead a small group for newly weds at our church and we had a few dozen couples come and go through our group. I can say based on that sample size, the 5 and unders usually stuck together.
