Are "Trunk-O-Treat" events for poor people who don't love their children?

Why not find a nice neighborhood for your child to trick-or-treat in on Halloween? That way, they get the actual experience.

Out of ignorance, why are Trunk-O-Treats even a thing? How did they come about?

If so you'd be the first there.

We do this with our church and our kid's school. Why are you so judgmental when you, of all people, shouldn't be judging others?

The kids' school does a trunk or treat event every year but we also do the normal neighborhood walk in Halloween.

I imagine for most people the trunk event is extra.

It's a safe and controlled environment where in particular younger kids can have the trick or treat experience without walking 2 miles. Try doing that with a 2 or 3 year old kid. My kids did some of these as well as the neighborhood experience on Halloween night. It has nothing to do with socioeconomic status.

They started out because of overprotective parents who were afraid to let their kids go door to door.

They've gotten pretty popular though. It's unfortunate honestly, I don't see many kids going door to door unless they're in a neighborhood with houses in pretty close proximity.

Our school/church always did one. The kids got a lot better stuff from that than trick or treating(which we did as well).

What a strange thing to melt about. And I doubt you would want to compare W-2s with anyone at our trunk or treat except maybe me. LOL

Lucy Beckham in Mt pleasant, SC holds one every year and OP is definitely too poor to buy in that school district.

Real talk, my Grandma takes a lot of joy out of kids coming to her house on Halloween to Trick or Treat.

With the big increase in Trunk or Treat events, she sees far less kids on Halloween. And she's not in any place to drive her car to an event/decorate it to participate.

I'm sure there are a fair amount of folks like her.

We used to go throughout our neighborhood, hit the neighborhood across a major road from us. Then we'd head over to my cousin's neighborhood and go there as well. We pretty well made a full night of it.

And it was never a safety issue. Mom or Aunt followed in the car and we helped walk our younger family members around.

Even as a troll, you must have a shitload of negative energy to constantly think of topics like this to post.

We have plenty of imports in our neighborhood already. It's actually becoming a problem as I've noticed fewer houses participating each year that the "migrant" population grows.

It's not just churches that do it in our area, so nothing against them. Just think the oversaturation of those events have taken away from the traditional door to door Trick or Treating for a lot of folks (at least here).

Probably also correlates with the increased lack of physical activity for adults.
