I significantly higher portion of your money goes to support the Japanese economy, relative to the money you could have spent supporting an American manufacturer.
Most of the Japanese vehicles we buy today are made in America
Now, maybe some of those profits end up in a Japanese 1 percenter's wallet instead of an overpaid American CEO, but those guys can suck one.

I have a Tundra and 2 4Runners for wife (no pics) and kid. I can't see me ever buying another American vehicle. As an adult I've purchased 1 F150, 1 Silverado, 1 Sierra and one Tahoe. All had issues.

Chevy if an American brand regardless of where they make their product.
Lexus otoh cares about Japanese people, not Americans. Regardless of if they make a few cars over here

At random red lights I count American and foreign brands. My unofficial assessment is 70% are foreign in U.S. and max 10% are American when I do same in other countries.
Japanese design more reliable vehicles.

No, Detroit is losing.
And they deserve to lose.

Maybe?
Which country does Lexus help when it’s all said and done? Think they love America? Lol

I would assume rural Louisiana people would be similar, and any other state.

My dad drove GMC trucks exclusively, until 2008 and the bailout. After that he bought a Tundra, loves it, and will never go back.

Ok, I'll slow it down for you.
There are a lot of things that the American government and American businesses can do to help their country. A lot of things that don't include blowing trillions of dollars invading shitholes and funding USAID grifts, or offshoring millions of American jobs.
The little bit of money that America allows me to keep, I get to spend the way I want. So if I want to buy a luxury car, should I go with the Lexus or the Cadillac? You're telling me I should buy the Cadillac, but I know that Cadillac is gonna fall the frick apart in 5 years.
No thanks, I'll buy the Lexus.
If Detroit wants us to buy their cars. Make them better. If you want me to buy an American car, you can fricking pay for it.

Yeah, it seems like they're building for the market that fails the Mopar credit check.

I had one friend in high school who wasn't allowed to have a Japanese car.
His grandfather served in the pacific and was just an angry old racist. As soon as he died my friend sold his shitbox explorer and bought a 4runner.

Look up the Killing a Toyota episode of Top Gear.
Those boys took a Toyota and . . .
Drove it into a tree, down a flight of steps, through a production office, and into the Bristol Channel and leaving it submerged in seawater for hours.
Despite significant damage, a mechanic was able to get the Hilux running again using only a limited set of tools and no spare parts.
So then they dropped a camper trailer on it, hit it with a wrecking ball, set it on fire, and eventually placed it on top of a 23-story tower block before the tower was blown up. It dropped 240 feet and had to be dug out from the rubble.
A mechanic got it running with minimal repairs and no spare parts.
Show me a vehicle made by anyone that can do that, and I’ll buy it. Until then, I’m a Toyota man.
Here’s a short clip of the last part.

The thing is we can’t even buy the Hilux in America.

My last 2 cars were GMCs. Before that, all foreign.

I still run into people like this from time to time but see it a LOT more often in the motorcycle world where Hardley riders look down their noses at "rice burners". I'm sure it's out of date now but I used to have a profile shot of a HD that listed just how many - over 50% - of the parts are made overseas.
