Well, both are true. The anyone with a pulse thing has been happening since the inception though. The new dorms are nice, and coed-ish. The chicks dorms have always been better.

Just four years ago my son was able to live on campus through his first 3 years no problem then was a RA his senior year. LSU’s Freshman classes have risen every year since with zero new constructions just demolitions.

Those condos on Christian Street are always solid. Lived there my last year of undergrad at LSU. Walking distance to Ivar’s.

Mine live at The Venue right at the N gates behind the music building. No issues so far…knock on wood.
The reviews of that place on Google make it seem terrible. One of the lowest rated. Poor maintenance and car break ins even in the garage.

No that’s what happens when LSU actually makes dorms desirable to live in unlike the dumps they were when I was there
It isn't. It's because nobody but freshmen can live in a dorm on campus. As others have said, LSU is taking in people they can't accommodate.

Odd. We researched it just last year and it came up ok. Like I said knock on wood my daughter hasn’t had any issues yet. Granted she does go to her Aunt and Uncle’s every weekend she doesn’t come home so her vehicle isn’t there from Friday afternoon till Sunday afternoon.

The venue (large corp run)
Grand cypress townhomes(20 units) ( private.. mix of young professionals—students)
Two houses redone on state street….studios…1…2bedrooms

You are closer to the quad than many dorms… all these look at lsu property and directly at lsu dorms ( cypress hall etc…)
All a block off campus….one actually share property line with lsu (cypress hall)

I said state..I meant chimes… they recently were renovated by an architect in Nola and they have the various options.. studios in back above garage.. main building has 1-2 bedrooms… I went in when being redone.. I recall granite , hardwood floors etc…

The grand cypress are 2 bedrooms 2.5 bathrooms covered private parking .. 1200 sq feet. Storage room on back porch… tend to be law students… owners kids … ten units rent out to general public…

The venue is typical corp housing .. room or bedroom rental… garage..pool etc.. the area is quiet and safe.. look at it on google earth… you will think they are dorms on campus… always quiet when I am by it .. but I am outside…idk what goes on inside..

I am very familiar with the private rentals and only know about the venue because it is close the private ones I am aware of..

A 1 bedroom is right at a grand. Everything but electricity is included which has been about $40 a month.

When all said and done after food and shite it comes out to almost exactly what a semester on campus cost.

Above poster is correct it shares a property line with Cypress which is where my daughter was at. It has a large fence and “moat” behind it so the only way to enter it is from the campus facing side. It’s a 5 minute walk to most of my daughters classes.

You realize the thugs that murdered those PhD students from India back in 2007 lived less than 500 yards away from the Venue?

The reviews of that place are terrible. I appreciate your help bit I have trouble getting past that. In fact, just about all of the private student apartment complexes are poorly rated.

We’ve had good luck at the Lodges. No complaints so far.

If they have roommates renting a house isn't a bad option. Depending on where you live, I'd spend a day/weekend driving around look for for rent signs. You can find some good houses/apartments owned by families. I lived in U-View off of East Boyd and really liked it. Great location. Many of the newer big apartment complexes are fine, but were built cheap and fast so you might run into some problems.
