True. Saturday I went to a vegas style pool party with 3 buddies. Then to a casino, then strip club. That was fun. Then Sunday went to beach and pool with 20 something year old I met at the party the day before. Had sex, got her an uber, ordered pizza and rested up for work Monday, by falling asleep watching movie at 8pm.

I'm sure some will call BS, but that is a pretty typical weekend except I was typically just going out with the same girl on sundays for a few months there until deciding to move along from that

I don't doubt you. But it does reinforce my point. That doesn't sound fun to me anymore. I finished building my patio, planted some more veggies, hit balls at the range, watched Ready Player One with the family, hosted BBQ and drinks Sunday on the new patio. shite that would make you interminably bored, but was a perfect weekend for me.

Marriage is for weak willed individuals who have no ambition for anything in life except children and attempting to stave off loneliness. You guys go ahead and get married, I'll keep my stacks of money and I'll travel and find meaning by eating new foods and being cultured.

The most optimistic estimate, based on a prediction rather than a summary of actual past divorces, is probably the one in the Times: “If current trends continue, nearly two-thirds of marriages will never involve a divorce…” Again, though, that comes with the caveat that the decline “is concentrated among people with college degrees.”

So an optimistic prediction is that only 1 in 3 marriages will end in divorce. 50% might be a little hyperbolic but it clearly isn’t too far off.

I am not attacking your marriage, I’m sure that you’re happy and you have a great wife like millions of other married folks but the idea that marriage is this great institution that everyone needs to take part in to be happy or successful I just don’t buy.

Humans long for companionship, it’s in our basic nature. Sure it’s cool to be “single” and chase tail whenever you want, but it does get old as you grow up. The key is, don’t jump into marriage unless you’ve found a true partner for life; your best friend type shite.

Ever been to Cadillac Cafe or any of the older MILF bars? The desperation in there is depressing.

You said it was at 50% and climbing. It's not a 50% and it's been dropping since the 80s. You are wrong. Just stop while you're behind.

as a newly divorced guy and single, I whole heartily agree with this

That may be your idea of a fun weekend now, but wait until you're over 40 and don't fit into that scene anymore. I'm over 30 and single by the way. Currently having fun doing what I want, but I'm not pretending there isn't an end in sight.

I wonder how many of the upvoters are worried that their wives will find out that they upvoted this

As has been stated several times, those numbers include people that get multiple divorces. It's not near as bleak as you try to make it out to be, but there won't be any convincing you of that because you just don't buy it.

I’d say being single for life is for weak willed individuals who have no desire to work for a lasting, lifelong relationship.
