Is the $236 what was billed? What was your amount due after the insurance allowable. No was BCBS would let someone pay 236 even for a level 5 visit.

I don't think the OP realizes that the other half of us are the reason they have such a cheap plan they are complaining about.
I am 29, perfect health, and pay $250/mo with a 6500 deductible AND I can only use Oshner. If I get in an accident out of state, I'm screwed.

My mom and her husband is the worst at this. I really think it is my moms fault mostly tho
Like one of them will have some pain like in the shoulder and off they are going to the ER at 10 oclock at night. Then they bitch about how long they had to wait.
But then they do that shite again and again. Problem is, the ER people don't do jack shite for the cause, but only something for the pain, which is temporary. So of course it will come back and they will go back to the ER again.
She thinks because they got insurance they can go whenever like it is no big deal. I keep telling her that the real problem is going to the ER for something that can be seen by the regular doctor in a day or two, instead of right now.
But yea I'm in the 30's and healthy enough and I don't ever go to the Dr and as long as no one tells my employees, I haven't been sick since I was in high school (15 or so years). The only time I really ever get sick is if I drink too much alcohol or eat too much junk food too fast.
I also don't have insurance and do not want it. Why pay thousand of dollars every year to not use it? Why couldn't I just save my own money and pay for my bills when I get them? Why is that hard to understand for some?

I don't think you understand how expensive anything is. Get in a car accident? Need an emergency appendectomy? God forbid you get serious illness because you are screwed

For whatever reason, there are some people who love going to the doctor/hospital. I don't get it, I will not go to the doctor unless I absolutely have to ..
This was several years ago but I was talking with my barber. He owns his own place so he has to pay for he and his family's health insurance so he looked into driving a school bus. He became a bus driver. He goes open up his shop for about an hr in the morning, leaves for about an hour to go drive his route then in the afternoon he has to close for an hour to go run his evening route. He told me that by driving the bus (because of the benefits), that alone was like getting $1100 a month raise.
Any business owners out there, that's an option. Or run for a city council or justice of the peace position.. It will save you a lot of money.. Plus a small supplementary salary.

You people are fricking worst!
Actually I got insurance for car accidents and that makes more sense to get than some health insurance. I'm more worried with shitty drivers than my health during my prime. Again, why would I need it in my 30s? I haven't been to the DR in 15 or so years, and I am better off using that money instead of spending it on some fricking bullshite I don't need? People have insurance and they still get fricked all the time.
Plus like I said, the ER will take care of the real emergencies if I ever do have any.

In a sense they are. But that's how insurance works. And some healthy young people will rack up huge bills. And if you don't you'll get old and then you will. Everybody needs to participate in health insurance. And it's becoming more and more this way as more and more primary care physicians are now employees rather than entrepreneurs. I want steady salary and shiftwork. Works well with the way healthcare needs to go as much as people dread it

Do you have any idea how much an ER visit costs?
Also....if you are seriously injured it won't be the ER visit that bankrupts you....it will be the surgery costs and ICU costs that do you in financially. ER and surgery and ICU stay could easily cost you 100k on up.
If you are seriously hurt....you ain't gonna just be patched up in the ER and sent on your way.

Ok, good luck with all that. The ER is really cheap too. Although without insurance you better go to the county or charity hospital.

I am 38 and used my insurance for the first time in my life two months ago. I am now paying nearly $500 a month for shitty insurance.
a. my doctor bill was around 600 and they covered around 120 of it.
b. my rehab for two visits was 600 and my insurance covered 0 of it though it was prescribed and I was told I had to go by my doctor.
