Today my mom found out her dog has cancer. She lives less than a mile away from a chemical plant. She goes walk on the levee every morning and her dog goes with her. It's a lab and sometimes, if the water is high enough, the dog will go jump in the water, in the Mississippi River, then with all the waste that is put in the air, I doubt that helps.

Then she started naming all the people down her street who has been diagnosed with cancer over the past several years (they are all older people so it's not like some Erin Brockovich type shite), but either way. Could living by a chemical plant increase a person's chance of getting cancer?

You mean are people who live near known carcinogen manufacturing facilities more likely to get cancer?

You think you can smell shite next to a manure processing plant?

The county I grew up in, your 60% more likely to get cancer there than the next highest county in Georgia and we had paper mills and chemical plants and all sorts of shite highly concentrated around the main town in the area

I thought Baton Rouge has really good water? Seriously, wasn't it ranked high on a national list?

Cancer is prevalent everywhere. Anecdotal ev from all sources you can think of. Coincidence isn't just coincidence.

“Cancer Alley” between here and Baton Rouge originated with a strike at BASF where many union people got shut out. The response from the union was to start an environmental group to make things difficult, specifically for BASF. And that group originated and perpetuated noise about Cancer Alley.

I wish someone would tie concrete blocks to you and throw you into the Mississippi River.

Supposedly. But it has a lot more chemical and refinery type places. Don’t see how both can exist in one ecosystem.

If Baton Rouge water is high quality, the answer to op is no. If it is more toxic than led to believe, yes
