My mom lived 75 miles from a chemical plant. Never smoked or drank and got cancer.

Meh.
People who choose to live near these places are probably uneducated, come from bad genes, and probably eat nothing but highly processed foods and lots of stuff with high fructose corn syrup.
They also smoke a lot more than the average population.

While not prime real estate I think much of the cancer in the alley is from chemicals that have leached into the water table from agriculture.

There was a guy on.another LSU board who swore up and down that the water and air were absolutely safe in S.La. Of course, he was also the head lobbyist for the La. Chemical Association. He must not be on TD, otherwise he would be all up in this thread by now.

I’m in a silver Subaru Outback with a 30-A sticker waiting outside of Sonic.

This was years ago, but I remember there was a time when the Mississippi River was really low and by Dow, you could see a pipe that went through the bottom of the levee and it was just steadily pouring out shite into the river.
You are clueless if you think a chemical plant can do this today. You sound like a dumber Al Gore saying something that stupid.
And there are multiple other idiots that think what happens in baton rouge could affect the water they get from their aquifer. Just Google it read up on it for 2 minutes before saying something stupid. Baton Rouge water is rain water from central Mississippi, that is filtered through sand and silt and we pump from 2000 feet down. It is the second purest aquifer in the country behind one in Washington. The issues with the water is from the old arse pipes it goes through now.
