Sure he's going to tell you he's paying market value. He doesn't know if you know what market value is. He's there to make money and doesn't care if you never go back to his store. His job is to get everything for the cheapest price possible.

If you're pawning instead of selling, they might give you more money. When you're selling they're starting low, and not going much higher.

Hardcore Pawn on TruTV is more realistic than pawn stars.

So you want him to speculate. Why would he do that. If he wanted to buy market value silver he woulda done it.

Why do you get to buy it at a great price but have him buy it at market. That ain’t hiw the world goes round

Silver is a commodity, has a market value.

Why did you think he would pay you market value, putting the burden and expense at selling it to someone else at market value on himself?

You seem like the crook in this case

No offense, but why would you expect him to pay market value when he has to sell it and make a profit to stay in business?

Uhhhh, the silver market is fluent. He could pay market and it might be double in a year. Hes not trying to flip silver... that's a hold item for them.

The Coin Guy in Denham. He pays much more than anyone else in the area, around 90-95% of spot.

How is he different than you? You want to sell at a markup and he wants to buy the silver at a mark down.

You "ripped off" somebody when you bought it under market value and now you're mad you could not sell it at market value? You seem like you qualify as a scumbag.

You sound like you’d fit right in with pawn shop owners.

Yes they are crooks. Went into one while I was waiting on wife shopping next door. They had a Bushnell Patriot golf gps finder for $50. I bought it and brought it home put new batteries in it. It flashed some error code and I called Bushnell. They said it was fried and would never work. Brought it back and got my money back. Went in next day to look at something I had seen. Sure enough had that gps back on display

You think that's the first time he's ever been called a mean name? Get out of here clown. He doesn't want your worthless silver anyway.

No, people who brag about their garage sale finds that they bought for $8 and then claim it’s valued at $4000 ZOMG, yet they can’t sell it.

This thread cracks me up every time. Pawn shops are renowned for being cheap and sleazy and OP got mad they treated him cheap and sleazy when he was trying to make a profit off silver.

It's like leaving a 1 star review for Taco Bell because of the lack of ambiance and your quesarito not being authentic Mexican food. You know what you're doing there.

No, funeral home directors are. If I never step foot in a funeral home again, it'll be too soon.

Last weekend, I bought nearly 800 grams of sterling silver for a great price.
I sold a few pieces on eBay for $150+, leaving me with 712 grams of silver. I did get a few offers of silver value of the pieces, but I would have to pay eBay fees, so I figured I’d sell it myself.
I walk into a pawn shop and ask if they pay market value for silver. He says yes. So I wait 20-30 minutes as he weighs them and does computer work. He comes back with an offer of $250. I said no, that’s not market value. He then says $300 is the best he could do. I again tell him that’s not market value. It should be around $375. He said ¢.40 a gram is the best he could pay. I asked him why did he say he pays market value, his reply was his offer is his offer. He said something smart arse (I forget what, but something along the lines of he wasn’t the one trying to pawn silver).
I called him a fricking liar and crook, walked out.

Who buys silver at market value in BR?

If you want to buy and sell PM's you need to learn what you are doing, "market value" is a range with buy on one end and sell on the other, no retailer is buying at spot prices, they could not keep the door open.
