I've had this debate with Wall Street finance types who only see the world from their narrow perspective.
Get back to me when you've discarded all your technology and built your own computers, servers, and various OS systems to run it all. Cellular and internet networks for comms? Give it a go.
Using a bicycle to commute to and from work requires very little engineering expertise to build, after you find the manufacturer to produce the components.
Financial engineering did not build our country, but it's come close to temporarily destroying it on occasion.

From reading the OP, you would greatly benefit from a remedial writing course. Might want to master the basics before charting a course for the stars.
Nice rage bait lol.

My nephew has an Electrical Engineering BS from Vanderbilt, he got hired by Space X right after graduation and is doing very well for himself.

alot of people are going to tell you to go into aerospace but if you talk to people at nasa or at spacex( i have done both) they will tell you 100% get mechanical as it gives you a broader base. intern and if you really want to be in aeronautical, get a masters in it.
but yes, LSU is a very respected engineering school but nobody will give a frick after your first job. either you have the personality and drive to be good or you dont.

That's awesome

It’s kind of sad that the kids these days want to be part of a tax dollar black hole like “space” instead of actually benefiting society working at the plant or the patch

I work for a major in Houston and all LSU engineering degrees are well thought of although ChE, PE and EE will get a nod before ME and ME will get in before CiE but that's oil and gas. They also hire a good many CM degrees. The degree priority depends on the job. My company hires mostly from TAM, LSU, OU and Colorado SoM.

Most of the SEC engineering degrees are respected - especially those that haven’t succumbed to the grade inflation virus.

Have you watched the new Apollo 13 documentary? It was fascinating watching those engineers try and figure out space problems from Houston in real time. Smart dudes.

IEs are Spreadsheet Engineers, it's the lowest level engineer you can be. People who hire IEs are looking to fill a role that has to be an engineer, but don't want to pay engineer salary.
ME is better, but it's also the largest group of engineers. Chem E is best.

Any LSU degree is respected across the country compared to a ton of other schools. The degree is just a piece of the whole pie though.
There are so many more things that decide whether someone will have a successful career or not.

I like how yall squabble over who has the best engineering degree but none of yall are even really engineers. When’s the last time any of yall drove a train?

Can't - most train engineers are boomers and they won't retire /sarc
