I've been reading up on it and I'm not sure what exactly I should send to the family. I don't want to offend their religion or the place the funeral is being held. I'd really like to show my condolences so any help would be much appreciated! Thank you.

Who gives a gift for a funeral? I've never heard of such a thing. Just send flowers and maybe bring a box of croissants for the reception afterwards.

Make a donation in his/her name to the 9/11 Memorial. The religion of love that is Islam has shared with America and we should give back.
