No, we knew it would be a lot and planned for it, just not quite as much as it really is. But we are on COBRA right now. Paying $1700 for 4 of us. At the end of the year we will shop around. Already covered our deductibles, so not worth changing until the end of the year.

I shifted to "Of Counsel" at 48, I'm 52 now. I still do some work and try 1 or 2 cases a year but that is because I enjoy it and my wife is 41 and still working. I am not sure when we will both fully commit to retirement, it could be tomorrow and it could be 10 years from now.

Who do you think you’re kidding? You could just sell your watch collection and live pretty well, ha

I am 43 and plan to retire around 65. My current job is the least stressful job I have had since I was 16 years old so I am not leaving it unless I am fired. By my projections, I should be close to my target net worth number by the time I am 65. This doesn't include my wife's savings and she earns way more than I do.

30 down.

30 to go.

Gives me another 30 or so.

Things go as planned I can probably cut that by a couple years, but I don't have a physically demanding job so I'll probably stay until at least 60.

I retired from my Fed LEO job at age 51. Took a year off and then became a State LEO which I currently am a Senior Officer. I plan to work until age 60 if I’m able to do so. If I get tired, sick or nursed, I’ll hang it up.

I enjoy this career far better than my first one.

I think a lot of people speculating about retirement before Medicare kicks in underestimate how much insurance is going to cost

Literally millions of Americans retire every year in their 30s, 40s and 50s.. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Pretty much just like me. Don’t know about selling minnows afterwards... Ive always joked about being the meanest Walmart greeter ever, but they phased that out. They took away my dream

65 is a pretty good guess

I could probably retire at 60 but I think it would be a much more comfortable retirement at 65

I retired at 56, almost 10 years ago, it seems like retirement years pass by 4 times as fast as working years. I have never been bored, and regret that I could not have done it sooner. Freedom to think about only what i want to think about, and having all of your time available for yourself is priceless.

58 for me. 55 for the Mrs. 3 years away.... I am the guy who looks at his 401K 3x's a week and thinks about retirement once a day minimum.

There’s no appropriate age to retire! Folks are different with different circumstances.

I plan to retire at 45. Almost tried it at 42 but it would have been tight. I'll seek out part time consulting work in my area of expertise but only if it allows ample time to travel with family. I'm a little concerned about the example it will set for my kids as they approach their teenage years and Dad doesn't work. I think they'll be ok though. My 3rd grader is a saver and is already asking when he'll have enough to buy some S&P500 shares.

I retired a month ago in my 50’s. Letting several employees buy me out over the next 5-6 years and I have a couple of side hustles that I can do for the rest of my life that require very little work and bring me a good income for the rest of my days on earth. The stress level has gone down significantly and I’ve been pretty busy tying up loose ends so haven’t really got in retirement mode yet.

What do you retired folks do with your time? I travelled for many years but still want to take my wife and kids to some of my favorite spots in Europe, the US and other exotic places. Also, play golf and have some hunting property I’m developing. Plenty to do, and can’t seem to get to it all so far.

When medical problems outweigh my ability to work I’m sure. Haven’t even paid off my student loans so no time soon
