Apple iPhone battery power

I've noticed my phone has been significantly draining the battery every day without significant use.
Is there some sort of software update issue? Or is dropping it in the toilet finally taking its toll? Don't judge.

I just updated phones to an iPhone 6 last Friday and it can't make the day without being recharged even with moderate use.

I have almost a 4 1/2 year old Iphone4..the battery is a complete joke but I just chalk it up to being old and outdated

Do you close apps or just leave them running? Do you have your phone on maximum brightness?

Close apps, adjust screen brightness, turn off wifi when not in use, turn off notifications, turn off locations etc

yea mine is draining pretty bad also, but just started doing it the last couple weeks. everything is turned off, and i'm doing anything i haven't always done.

mine goes in spells...sometimes it does ok and then other times it drops in less than a day. sometimes I can actually feel it getting hot in my pocket.
when that happens, I usually find that there are some pending updates or something that need to be done...

To the poster that asked about apps - I close them about once a day and try to remember to adjust the brightness when leaving house or arriving at home - when I think about it

I believe there is merit to this theory as well. I have no proof but seems that every time they come out with a new phone the previous model begins having problems.

not an apple owner. But I recommend that you reset your phone atleast once a day. Many times you have apps open and you don't even know that it's draining your battery life.

I had an iPhone until last December. The battery percent remaining indicator was more like a countdown clock. My Samsung Galaxy Note 4 lasts all day and more under heavy usage conditions. It's great not having to be concerned about my phone battery all of the time.

I keep my bluetooth on all the time to sync with my car when I'm driving... I find that it drains the battery faster... as well as the "Personal Hotspot".
I just need to be vigilant about turning them off during the day...
