Its BS that organizations such as PETA basically sit around waiting for opportunities to insert their idiotic way of thinking into every possible situation they can.

I want to know what LSU Alumni Advocates are agreeing with PETA. Are they making that shite up? Or do some LSU people actually think we should stop having a live tiger?

This is what PETA does I would have been shocked if they didn't. I don't think there is anyone in power giving this a second through.

I could see their point if we took a wild tiger and caged him up but that isnt the case here. They are already in captivity and we give them a damn nice home to live in.

Man frick PETA. LSU greatly improved the living conditions for a live tiger. There are zoos around the US that doesn't have as good of a habitat as Mike has. Not to mention, I am sure it is a plus for the vet school to have the opportunity to care for a live tiger.

I am sure this is a story that gives PETA an opportunity to get into the news.. Look, I am all for no cruelty to animals, but I think it would be a huge disappointment if LSU decides to not have a live mascot.

Quite a few people are uneducated on the topic.

I don't believe it is crazy to suggest most people would rather tigers live in the wild than in captivity. Hell, I'm no PETA freak yet I'd be against LSU snatching a tiger out of the wild too. The problem is that many people don't understand the next Mike will come from a tiger already in captivity. Once you get that message out, and people understand that we're improving the life of a tiger in captivity, I doubt you'll find opposition on campus.

Ok...show of hands...who here actually thinks LSU will entertain the idea of NOT having another Mike?

I mean...does ANYONE think that's even a remote possibility having spent all that much money and continuing to solicit donations for the habitat?

If no one thinks that...why give a single frick about the stupid crap floated by an organization that clearly knows FAR LESS about the living conditions of our beloved Tiger than we do?

Don't think it would have ever been a possibility before. Certainly not the case 10 years ago for Mike Vi, but the world has come a long way (for better or for worse) in the last decade, especially in this country.

Don't think anything could surprise me anymore. Would only be mildly surprised if no more live tiger.

Bet money some bored students looking for a cause will throw their full weight into a protest against getting another live tiger and attempt to end an 80 year old tradition at LSU.
