I researched this stupid thing quite a bit yesterday mainly to ease my wife's concern.
Still not sure if it's legitimately showing up in videos or not but there seems to be at least some evidence that it is.

Reluctantly I asked my 3 year old about it last night and she said she didn't know who MoMo was so I'm guessing she hasn't seen it..... still it's scary to think some creep somewhere could do something like that.

Nobody is denying your kid talking about it, but that still doesn’t make it anymore real than Bigfoot. I’ve looked for the videos but found nothing other than a bunch of freak out videos by older kids.

So is Youtube good at scrubbing and preventing or not? Figure this out, then let's discuss.

If my kid only has access to the kids apps on their tablets, how did they find out about it?

YouTube published regarding "Momo" content: “After much review, we’ve seen no recent evidence of videos promoting the Momo Challenge on YouTube. Videos encouraging harmful and dangerous challenges are clearly against our policies, the Momo challenge included. Despite press reports of this challenge surfacing, we haven’t had any recent links flagged or shared with us from YouTube that violate our Community Guidelines.”

The statement also went on to note that the images of "Momo" are not against their YouTube Terms of Service although they have banned it from YouTube's Kids platform along with their children's app.

Even with youtube scrubbing the videos, why is it so hard to find a mirror of ANY youtube video with "momo" on it

There are literally news channels with Momo pictures and videos. Here's one:
CBS news

So where did these come from? Some mom made it up?

Again, I agree its blown way out of proportion. I'm simply stating the idea its 100% fake is BS. There was something out there.

in that story, the kid had to specifically search to find a video of Momo (the same video the OP linked), she didn't just pop up on a video that the kid was watching

If there is someone you can trust, it has to be Google and its subsidiaries

They have a perfect record in keeping our trust.

Never heard of MoMo until yesterday when my wife who is on a social media rage crusade decided to show this to my kids to see if they had seen it. I was on the couch when she showed them and my 8 year old daughter lost her shite. She had not seen it but that bug eyed demon scared the living hell out of her. Now she is saying that she is scared to go on YouTube kids ever again and she wouldn’t go anywhere in our house last night without myself of my wife

It's weird how close this is to what happened with our girls.

So youtube kids is just like youtube and has a bunch of "suggested videos. It wouldn't be that hard to simply have a title "peppa the pig" and then the MOMO video pop up instead. That's a pretty damn easy scrub for youtube to do.

I'm not saying they were watching a Peppa the Pig or Disney video and MOMO starts in the middle of the video. I have no freaking idea.

All I am saying is that there seems to be evidence enough that there were some Momo videos in some form or fashion in Kids video apps.

Oh, I don't trust them for shite

I was just making a point that even if youtube denying and possibly deleting videos, why can't we find one that someone has saved and rehosted? Everything news channels post is shitty internet memes or pictures of the actual art exhibit that the Momo face originated from

Soccer moms? Would your wife save a video and rehost? My wife has her masters in a computer field. That's a laughable thing for her to even think of doing.
