I wish I could get tested to see if I had Covid and got over it. On Feb 22 I went to the doctor running a fever and sick as a dog. They swabbed for the flu and cane back negative. He told me I had some other virus but didn’t know what type. I got over it in a week or so.
I’d like to find out if I have the antibodies so I could donate my plasma to help others.

What are the practicalities of conducting widespread testing of the asymptomatic? You have 7 million people in TN right? How many can realistically be tested? And it is still just a single point in time test.
I think everyone understand the value in knowing who the asymptomatic positives are. Can that realistically be done?

We were just discussing this. If you test positive, you have to go inform all kinds of people. I'd rather not know because I'm lazy.

This is false logic. If you test hoping to find asymptomatic carriers, the ones who are getting infected after the test won't indicate a positive. Which means you'll have to test them again.
The virus didn't sweep through at once and disappear, it's dynamic.
It's an ouroboros of testing, and no one can afford that, nor is it practical.
I'm not too stupid to understand your position, it's just wrong.

No, you're wrong because your entire opinion is based on incorrect assumptions of the practicality.
It is not impractical to test everyone right now. It is worth testing 95 negatives to find 5 asymptomatic positives.
Period.
That is coming from someone who works in healthcare and has been neck deep in COVID data and work since this began. Including supply chain of testing.

Thank you for working in healthcare, but that alone doesn't qualify you to deem what is statistically significant or the economics of what is being proposed.

Working in supply chain management of testing for COVID19 for the largest healthcare provider in the country doesn't make me qualified to discuss the practicality and effectiveness of testing everyone?
Yeah, we're going to agree to disagree.
I also work with our strategy teams, McKinsey, ER directors, government officials, and statisticians to model impact in our markets across the country.
It is pretty unanimous that everyone should get tested. One asymptomatic person getting positive results, isolating, and contact tracing immediately can prevent a small flare up from turning into a massive cluster. That is critical right now.
If we want the government to open things up faster, we should do things like this. The testing infrastructure can handle it now...for the most part.

Find the Abbott machines and call ahead. They're there but they run out sometimes. The shipments are coming in every few days right now.
