I didn't say they couldn't. But they have a right to be offended. They absolutely don't have the right to take it off the air or anything, but you can't say they don't have the right to feel that way.
If they're offended by Apu, then they don't know their own culture in America though. I guess being a well payed upper class citizen separates you from the people Apu represents. I've got about 10 liquor store or convenience store owners that are Indian and see plenty more in the area from 711 to others. It's just a business a lot of them get into I guess. Nothing racist in protraying a truth.

Aziz Asari had a good point about this. He used to look up to the Indian actor from short circuit 2, until he learned there was no Indian actor in short circuit......

The American guy who is offended hasn't really watched actual indian movies.Most of the comedy in indian movies is based on making fun of their own people (chubby, color, based on looks).
