Oil them thoroughly with 3 and 1 oil and cover with rag or sock.

I live in Chicago.

Cover the lock with a sandwich bag and use electrical tape to keep it from coming off.

get a can of dry graphite spray powder lube

it doesnt freeze or dry out

Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) in a spray bottle works great to de-ice things OP. It’s cheap and should well for you. I’d thick there’s better options but that works great on items frozen shut.

This, or similar. Also keeps lock mechanism operating silky-smooooth.

Get some marine fogging oil, turn the lock upside down, spray a little in it, then work the key back and forth to get all of the innards coated.

Carry a Bic lighter in your pocket and warm tjhe lock and oil up. Profit.

A bottle of Heet gas additive. Always works in sub zero Iowa.

Might not have it down south but in every gas station up here.

Just pour some in the keyhole
