On days i go by office to pick up some things before seeing customers, i have to open the gate, and this morning it was frozen, had to blow in key hole, and then had to get it to move so it would unlock.

It's going to get way colder, anything you can use?

wd40 will help open a frozen lock, but when it's in 0's, the wd40 begins to freeze in the lock.

And since lock sits on the top part of entrance, it is in a windy spot of property, when it's a blowin.

I noticed some bags that you can put around lock, but wondered if anyone has experience using them.

I wouldn't normally care, but i'm looking to get in and out, and not stand in cold waiting for lock to finally open. And like i said, it's supposed to be in the single digits to flat zero for the week.

Get a cover for the lock?

Is this a serious question?

Zippo lighter fluid.
Spray the lock good then light it up.
It will work great.

If you tried that. Then I’d buy new lock(s) that come with the protective rubber/plastic cover.

Then reinforce that with a rag or a sock like the other poster said.

i think ill try that

When i was a driver at another place, many years ago, we had power outside, when we plugged trucks in, and would use a blow dryer.

No power any where near entrance

The issue is moisture obviously. If you have multiple locks get some reusable color change dessicant put it in a bag and seal the bag over the lock. It may not be the easiest solution but it is one that fixes the root cause.

Sounds naughty but nice.

Just make it look locked, but don’t actually lock it. Problem solved.

Are you using all-weather locks made specifically for outside?

Lithium Lube

Displaces water and stays pliable down to 0 or colder. It's like an off white paste in a tube.

WD-40 will not work….it gums up at low temperatures. Get yourself a 50 cent can of spray windshield de-icee.
