Honestly, though, Universal has been killing it recently with park upgrades.

We did Disney and Universal year before last. It was our first time to Universal in many years and we enjoyed it a lot but we were done in 2 days. Going in the off-season, we hit everything there and were done and just hanging out in The Wizarding World most of the second day. Definitely more thrill rides there but IMO, only the Wizarding World sections matched Disney's theming and attention to detail. I like where they are headed though! We are going back to Disney this fall but do not feel the need to hit Universal for maybe a couple more years.

Disney will always be in our rotation for vacations. I have been going since I was a kid and will continue to go until I can no longer travel. I would have no problem doing a honeymoon there. We do not go to Disney every year either. We are hitting Europe again next year for a few weeks.

After our daughter turned 7 (sorry no pics) she basically outgrew Disney and we haven't been back. I always thought when we were there how freaking weird adults with no kids are who are there. Almost everything about their behavior seemed out of place for adults IMO.
I guess if you had never been in your life and your curious, I kind of get it. I see adults I know on FB who go all the time because of time shares. Againl, it's weird.
That being said we did our honeymoon in Fiji and I couldn't be married to someone who would want to do the magic kingdom.

I didn't go to disney world on my honeymoon. We did two weeks in Europe. But I go to WDW often (once every two years or so) and there's plenty to do for adults only who only want to act and feel like adults.

The appeal of disney is that you aren't limited to just one experience for one type of person. Adults who don't like lines/rides can enjoy plenty of other things. Waterparks. Drinking around the World. Golf. 5-star dining. Spas. Water skiing. Cirque du Soleil. I could go on.

As far as for a honeymoon, that's one of those things where it's a combination of personal preferences and what a couple can afford. That fact that you'd point out any destination as being the lamest thing ever is probably... the lamest thing ever. But I'll address each of your points:
quote:

1) How big of a nerd/outcast must you be?
Not big.
quote:

2) of all the places in the world you choose Disney World
See the last paragraph above.
quote:

3) you don't even have kids yet and you're going to Disney World
This is a redundant point to #2.
quote:

4) being on your one and only honeymoon with a man dressed in a cartoon duck costume
The people in the costumes are almost always women including mickey. Exceptions are the taller ones like Goofy and Tigger. That being said, having to exaggerate one of your points isn't a valid point.

-7 year old outgrew Disney
-it's strange to see adults there with no kids
-the behavior of adults there with no kids is peculiar
-could't be with someone who wanted to honeymoon at Cinderella's Castle

So you have never been without kids? Yet you are quick to judge those that do this? It is a completely different experience. We do both and both have their appeal.

Never understood the attraction of a honeymoon at Disney but everyone is different.
If that's their cup of tea than enjoy!

I agree, outside of Naples and a few small cities, FL blows.

Any female that wants to go to Disney for a honeymoon has issues. Daddy issues. Daddy never took me to Disney so can you?!?! Enjoy the great sex and divorce in 3 years. Analysis, not experience.

My parents went to Disney for their honeymoon in 1980

They've been married ever since

Personally I think it's odd because I certainly wouldn't describe it as romantic but I see no need to begrudge a newly married couple based on their vacation choice

My 11 year old son asked when we might be going back to DW (he went last when he was 7). I told him to go stand outside in the driveway for 30 minutes in the hot sun, then come back in and tell me how many times in a day he'd like to do that AND pay me $100 out of his savings for the privilege of standing in the driveway in the hot sun 'cause that would be the extent of his Disney experience.

Not sure he totally understood, but he refused to go stand in the driveway, so I said, "then you really don't want to go to Disney."

That's pretty sad, and I have an 11yr old boy that doesn't want to go back...at least I hope he doesn't.

Did you also ask him what it's like to have a father that's a douchey a-hole?

I'm not insecure like the OP, and had an amazing time on my WDW honeymoon.

Every restaurant gave us a little something extra to help us celebrate, including upfront seating at dinner shows. We were given a $500 gift card from Disney at check-in. Got to jump the line to re-ride rock n roller coaster when our ride photo didn't show up. Were handed various fast passes, and were given a special marriage certificate at the American pavilion in EPCOT.

It was my wife's dream honeymoon. Sure we could have gone anywhere, but that's where she wanted to be. I like the parks and really enjoyed being there.
