In Texas, it was legal for a family of four to live in a one bedroom apartment. You can only imagine how many people were actually living in some of them.
OP,
Has there been any breeding of Pit Bulls, while a crowd of adults , and children, watch?

In the state of Louisiana, you are not required to file permits if a project is under $7,500, so the inspector won’t be much of help busting their balls

That’s incredibly false. It’s the type of work you do not the cost.

quote:in the state of Louisiana, each jurisdiction is allowed to have and enforce their own rules. There are absolutely many renovations that will require permits regardless of cost. Change an electrical panel in Jefferson parish, you need a permit. To build a fence in Jefferson parish, you need a permit. And so on.

You are out of your element

Ya exactly, you can basically build a non load bearing wall without a permit but the second it needs electrical it requires a permit.

BS.
We had to file for permission to redo the sidewalk and walkway to the house. Jeff Parish had to approve, measure, make sure that the specs were right, etc.
Job cost was 3,000.00

Sadly, unless you really like where you live, better to get out before these shite heads bring down your property values and bring in more of their own.
I've seen Hoosiers come into a subdivision, get their friends in there and a nice place goes to hell.

quote:id start with reading up on the codes, and then I would report a different code violation every week. Make it to the point where it is no longer worth it for the landlord to have them living there while fixing it up. There are a myriad of code violations you can find on almost any house.
: id start with code enforcement.
Fence taller than 6 ft? Report it
Grass not cut? Report it
More than 2 work vans parked at a residence? Report it
Cars on lawn? Report it
Don’t do it all at once. Make code enforcement know it’s a problem house. once it’s on their radar, they won’t leave it alone

good, would be a shame to have to move because of an infestation of Hoosiers.

If it’s a rental then maybe talk to the owner/prop mgr to make sure they know the situation.
I don’t think safety is your problem, it’s just trashy as hell.

I mean I know that and fully understand that. It’s just y’all are trying to pretend the inspectors have authorities like a cop with a search warrant. Say they are doing construction, and you file a complaint, and then the inspector shows up and they quote that they aren’t doing work out of permit, say no plumbing and electrical, it’s not not like he can just barge in and start ripping down walls. I understand exactly for picky things like a fence and shite, but for the most part home remodeling can be down without permits especially anything like Sheetrock, stuff that a normal renter might update.

You know you could just mind your business and let them mind theirs. If they are doing illegal activity in and around the house, then sure, contact authorities with the quickness. But other than that, just let then live.

Incredibly wrong.
Jeffparish.net - When Do I Need Or Not Need A Permit?
For example:
quote:
Replacement or installation of water heaters, toilets, faucets, etc. require filing by JP licensed plumber, gas fitter, etc. Replacement or installation of air conditioning, heating equipment requires filing by JP licensed mechanical contractor. Replacement or installation of electrical service panels, light fixtures, ceiling fans, switches, outlets, etc. requires filing by a JP licensed electrician.
