Anyone tired of Youtubers begging you donate to Patreon because they make less ad money?

There are two Youtubers who I really feel put the effort into videos and I donate to their patreon for some perks but most of the career Youtubers that I subscribe to who are begging for Patreon money are just people who sit in front of a webcam or play video games all day. Sure I like their content, but not enough to pay for it. Where do these people get the idea that bitching in front of a webcam is a viable full time job career?
Lets say you were making good money, then all of a sudden your ad money goes down the toilet (like many career Youtubers have happening to them), and they are now forced to get a real job and re-join the work force. How is "making videos on my webcam for 10 years" (boogie2988) gonna look on resume?
Youtube should be a hobby for most. Unless you're one of those channels with huge production value, you are essentially taking a massive risk.

What do you do that you can watch YouTube all day? Time to get a job son.

Simple solution, don't donate. If they go behind a pay wall, don't pay.

I watch a lot on the subway or on the platform. It's either that or stare at homeless bum with his giant bag of cans and hope he doesn't get too close to ask for money.

If they can attract a large audience, then they have value.

They've been ripped from the a-hole.
Because it was and still is if you're creative enough. PewDiePie is worth like 100 million dollars. Really most of these guys more need to get sponsors, which plenty of them are.
Not necessarily if you manage some sort of miniature media empire. If you talk about strategies that you got for optimizing views or creative ways to gain an income, I don't see why it necessarily looks that bad. It's really WHAT you've said that you might run into some problems. Plenty of media companies would hire these people.

Some of those guys have made more money in 1 year than I'll sniff in my life time.
That said, I would never have pride in having a career that revolved around primarily receiving donations as income.
Dont get me wrong, would I take 3 million a year to sit in front of a web cam and talk? Absolutely. I just feel like at some point I would just become a shell of my former self, like I sold out and didnt do anything meaningful with years of my life, and in that sense I don't envy those guys.
You see a lot of them especially nowadays with serious emotional issues.
To give some of them credit, I've watched quite a few that definitely have skills that translate to other industries. Some of them would absolutely kill it in marketing roles for large companies.

Yeah, a lot of them really do. Like Laci Green, back in 2016 I was really talking shite about her channel, and a lot of this crap from the internet really got to her. Recently she's been in more libertarian than feminist circles, and then all those so-called feminist "friends" abandoned her. Saw an interview with her on the Rubin Report and felt bad for her.

Adpocolypse was a real thing that effected a lot of those dudes ability to make a living. Smart of them to explore every possible revenue stream to stay afloat if they have a following that would support it. I think if you do it right, you’re up front about the money and what it’s going to and you use it to create better content and shouldn’t allow it to effect your current content which would drive away new viewers
A bigger moral issue is these much larger YouTube stars that are getting bank rolled on huge ad revenue because of their popularity with kids, and then turning that popularity into a merch selling machine that manipulates these kids to pressure their parents to buy 40 dollar T-shirt’s so they can be cool. And their content simply gets diluted worse and worse until it becomes a thinly veiled commercial for their merch

Logan and Jake Paul (not that I heard of them before the Suicide Forest) are just the worst with this. If you bought $100 worth of their merchandise that they would give you free shipping. And they made a shitty song about it too. If you have 12 million subscribers, you shouldn't be whoring them out in this way, especially if most are pre-teens.
This is something Howard Stern had a big beef with Rush Limbaugh over is his ridiculous merchandise store that manipulated the fans. I'll give Stern that is he never went down that road screwing his fans out of that kind of money, because everything I see from him online are books and third party merchandise. Sirius he could make an argument with how much the FCC screwed him over and what he could do with his show outside of it, even if the old show I think was better.

Honestly I have no problem shoveling merch to adults. If some sucker wants to get fricked, let them. But doing it to kids who are dumb not of their own fault and not with their own money is a line not to cross

Lol she "changed" her views (political) for views (clicks). She's a liar.

Why would you ever donate to a youtuber?
Posted on 2/7/18 at 8:25 pm to Parmen
The only YouTuber I ever donated money to ended up getting hit by a train.

Doubt it. She's dating and fricking one of the biggest libertarians out there. People like Milo are largely full of shite, but either she's genuine or a fantastic method actor.

Depends what kind of content you created and job you are applying for TBH.
I could see a production house or ad company being interested in a person who was able to have a popular page for many years. There are quite a few people who do music that could easily be hired as session or tour musicians.
I also have no problem with people asking for donations on their Patreon page b/c they are giving me content for free. I've never donated to anyone but some of them do have shirts and crap you can buy so it's not like you always get nothing in return.

So what is the difference between this and every other kid show? I'm not going for the gotchya, I'm genuinely interested.

No, I'm not a pussy that's bothered by shite like this.
