So what is the difference between this and every other kid show? I'm not going for the gotchya, I'm genuinely interested.

Because what he's trying to sell is ridiculous bullshite t-shirts for 40 bucks and not giving anything in return but bullshite vlogs. Say what you will about Disney, but they put a lot of heart and soul into that stuff.

How is "making videos on my webcam for 10 years" (boogie2988) gonna look on resume?

In Boogie's case sadly I dont think he has been physically capable of doing much else. I guess I dont see the issue. If I dont want to donate then I dont. If it annoys me then I unsubscribe.

There’s a degree of separation between most shows and their merch. There is the actual content, and then there is advertising for their Merch

And certainly some of these shows blur the lines closer than others, like molding shows or movie characters explicitly to sell toys. But there is still a line of difference in the sand, and these choices still rely on an organic growth of demand for their products.

These youtubers not only blend those lines to the point where there is no difference between merch/content, but they actively manipulate their followers by reinforcing to them that you won’t be a “real fan” until you have XXXX amount of clothing or items from their store (which are promptly marked up to crazy prices). And they have such a personal and suprisingly powerful platform, their exposure to kids is SO much more effective than your regular ole tv show.

One of the examples I’m talking about is Jake Paul making an entire song about buying merch. Content and merch have been combined to the point where there is no difference. He also in that song told the listeners to “throw away the gifts your parents got for you” in order to get more Jake Paul merch from your parents

As targeted as the kids show toys can get I never remember Megatron action figures telling me to throw out all my hot wheels so that my mom could buy me a bumble bee assessory

I know Jake and Logan Paul do the $100 bucks thing with their fans. Before anyone accuses me of looking at their shite, I got this knowledge from H3H3, that is a great YouTube Channel: LINK

They're horrible, and I'm glad that they're about to spiral into obscurity.

Why are you so worried about people thinking you might know who the Paul brothers are? No one is gonna arrest you for being aware of their existence

Also I wouldn’t be certain about them going into abscurity. They actually gained popularity and viewers from the suicide incident

Most YouTubers who make a career out of it do far more then beg. Most of this is just a response to YouTube demonizing a lot of videos

I've been on YouTube for about 4 years, only made about 30 videos, 250 subs.

You're not a YouTuber then. That's like saying I'm a professional Instagramer for having 500 followers. I'm almost sure I could alert all my Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter friends, as well as come on here among other message boards and get 250 subs. You have to have at least 5 and really 6 figure followers for me to consider you one. That's joke. "I'm a professional Facebooker because I have 1500 friends."

To be able to say you're a YouTuber there's no set sub count to get you in the club you moron.

OK, I have a YouTube channel and have 15 folllowers. I guess I'm there then.

If you think it's easy, go make some videos. Success isn't measured in subs, it's measured in view counts and view times.

And you've only made $146 dollars in 6 months.

Don't get me wrong, mine are for home movies, but having a marketing background, I'd be pretty embarrassed if I couldn't at least get 5K subscribers. It is absolutely about the subscribers since some dumbass could randomly come across your video and never see it again. If he's subscribed, then the chances are he likes your content and that he's going to likely watch some of your other videos.

Thinking it through, I'm very certain I could make over $146 through YouTube. All I would have to do is rant like a lunatic about film nonstop. I've gotten enough attention in the internet in that through the ages.

This is why you don't bank on "get rich quick" schemes and that's exactly what youtube is. YouTube is a business. They are always going to want to make themselves money before anyone else.

I’ve got a YouTube channel. Had it since 2016. I basically vlog my daily life. If anyone wants to follow and subscribe to my channel let me know. My last vlog I did was at a dungeons and dragons tournament. In that same vlog I document myself shopping st Dillard’s and eating Buffalo Wild Wings

I have one too. 1800 or so subscribers.
Over three million views. Never monetized it although I should probably get around to doing so.
