The price differences seem too good to be true.

Looking at the unlimited plan for 2 phones, Id save roughly $110/month.

How is Cricket’s service on calls? How is streaming music and video?

Pros?
Cons?

A part of me thinks that way. That’s why I’m asking. I know they are tied to AT&T towers but I’m not sure how big of a deal that really is.

In this case, not really. If you aren't in BFE and you don't use a lot of data Cricket is a better alternative to the big carriers. Everyone over the age of 65 should have Cricket or a like product.

How much slower does Cricket run when using data?

Yes, my service is fine where I live.

I got in on the 5 lines unlimited for 100 even.

It's now 4 lines I think.

Cricket uses at&t towers.

Price difference would not offset the ragging you'd get on here for posting a mobile screenshot with Cricket as your provider IMO

AT&T owns Cricket.

When I say it is literally the same service, I mean it is literally the same service.

Same towers as AT&T same speeds as AT&T and I paid $100 flat for four lines of unlimited.

so all the chuckleheads can mock you if they want but you will be saving money and getting the same service.

What are you referencing? It runs fine while using data. Do you mean once you reach your limit? I don't really use up my data, but cricket says for the bundled plan (After 22GB/line/mo., you may experience slower data speeds than other Cricket customers during network congestion. Add)

I agree with the other poster, unless you need like crazy good LTE constantly, I would recommend most people going with a service like Cricket. I just like how they don't have any other charges, ever.

Here is a coverage map from Cricket.

I have had a few different companies in Lafayette. I would go this order for reception/network.

At&t > Cricket > Straight Talk > T-Mobile

I have no used Verizon or others. I am happily content with Cricket. The only thing I can't do with cricket is make a mobile wifi spot (unless I want to pay another fee) I don't need that any more. I just use WiFi. I don't remember if at&t let me or not, but T-Mobile did.

Cricket caps download speeds at 3Mbps on the unlimited plans...I think the have an Unlimited Extra Plan that is at 8Mbps. ATT is at 22Mbps so Cricket is a lot slower.

I have used Consumer Cellularfor 3 or 4 years and it too uses ATT Towers. But they don't slow down your data, but they also don't have an unlimited data plan. Unlimited Talk/Text w/ 10 Gigs of data which can be shared on 2 phones is about $75/mo. I work from home and so am on wifi most the time so 3 gigs of data works for me and I pay $55/mo.

Main differences are slower upload and download speeds, phone selection, lower prioritzation to the network in times of congestion, lack of WiFi calling, lack of Mobile Hotspot, and lack of HD calling.

The biggest complaints are data speeds and ability to reach the network or stay on the network in times of congestion. You can be swapped from LTE to 4G or less midsession to allow for postpaid sims to have access. If you have travel you also won’t get the benefit of AT&T Roaming as the partner agreements don’t extend to prepaid. If you can live with those cons it’s cheaper to go prepaid vs postpaid.

I swapped a little over 2 years ago, saved about $140 a month ($3400+) on 4 lines, unlimited data.

No problem with data but I don’t stream a lot other than LSU football while at work.

Only minor (I mean minor) con is that you must dial the area code when calling or texting. So just make sure you save the area code for any number in your contacts.

Edit...
A couple other cons:
Cricket doesn’t work in Europe, so I just bought a mobile hotspot in Europe and made calls/texts via internet.
You cannot make your phone a wifi hotspot unless you pay $10 extra a month.

fricking with Lester Earl now about a obviously really wrong comment made 8.5 years ago is wonderful.

I have no experience about Cricket, it seems so much cheaper if I had a 3 or more phones I was personally paying for I’d have to look at them.

Other than they slow you down after so many MB, it's the same service.

I switched from AT&T to straight talk over 6 years ago. I use around 50gb per month and have never had any issues. You also don't need an unlocked phone, I just bought a note 9 from AT&T to use with ST.

Some of this is incorrect. Cricket has wifi calling and mobile hotspot. I have both.

I switched from AT&T years ago and there is 0 difference to me. I regularly go over the 22gb per month "cap" and do not experience any change in speed.

I had AT&T switched to Cricket and subsequently had many more dropped calls. Switched to Verizon and now I don’t have dropped calls but the amount of spam calls has gone through the roof.

What download speed would be the minimum for something like watching Netflix without any buffering? Can cricket handle that if it is indeed 3mbps?

There are a number of guys at work that all had AT&T for years, and have switched to Cricket and they've all said the same thing. They literally can't tell a difference whatsoever in reception or data speeds.
