I thought I would tire of the snow as well but you really get used to it quickly and it’s beautiful when the snow comes. As far as being too small, I came from an even smaller town in Louisiana so small is just fine for this country boy.

Yeah Seattle is falling apart. Some of you are blind to the reality.
Not blind. Maybe I should've explained it a bit better.
As much as it is "falling apart" I can walk around anywhere in that city and not feel like I'm in New Orleans.
Portland too. Both cities I can't really stand anymore. I still visit both but it's more the people.
The shitty arse woke people are what make the city a shitty existence to me. 5 years ago I could handle it but they've gone off the deep end.
It's not a place I'd advise anyone to move to just like New Orleans but the two cities are nowhere on the same level in terms of violence.

You also have that dry mountain air which makes colder temps much more tolerable.

Sorry, FL has no vacancy. Please contact Martha's Vineyard or D.C. for nearest availability.

Many of these sports and activities are found in small towns so I don’t understand the sentiment. Sounds like you are trying to paint all small towns with the same brush…

Don't give in. It's what they want for the new Afrika.

I also grew up in a small rural town and it blows arse. I’d never do that to my kids

So you don't really live in a rural area. You live at the edge of a mid sized city.
The edge of a mid size city absolutely can be rural. Rural doesn’t mean small town. It means rural.

You generalize way too much here. It just depends on where you are, local income levels, what state you are in, etc. I live in the middle of 30 acres 25 mins from the edge of a mid-sized city, 12 mins from Walmart/grocery stores, and 12 mins from the schools (where yes they do have AP classes and high graduation rates). Lot of people on here crapping on living in a rural area. You simply don't know what you are talking about. The only drawback is driving a little further when you must go into town. A small price to pay for peace and tranquility.
Sounds like you live in a suburb, not a small rural town.

I think it would probably be for less humidity on why I would move. Or just say F it and open a T shirt shop on a beach in south America.

Yeah, you can be out in a cow pasture or a cane field 10 miles outside of Baton Rouge. It's not exactly all cookie cutter suburbs in every direction.
My in laws live out in the woods and they are 15-20 minutes from downtown Birmingham.

30 acres isn’t that much and can easily be in a suburban area.
Rural is rural. It’s kind of like porn, you know it when you see it.

A house in the middle of 30 acres, 25 minutes from the edge of the city is not a suburb. It might be NEAR a suburban area but that’s not the same thing at all.

It also makes you age faster. That's why the girls in the south are prettier!

A lot of small towns in the south are just as big of shitholes

Im hitting a higher elevation. The heat just ruins everything for 5 months
Five months of cold and dangerous walking conditions is worse, IMO.

They would be living in an Exurb. That is not rural.

Yep 15 degrees here isn’t as cold as 35-40 degrees in Louisiana to me and it never gets to those 97 degree humid days like back down there.
