Left Houston 10 years ago and it was the best decision ever. My kids have 2 more years in HS then I don't know if we will stay where we are.
If I had to go either be around Tampa on the water. Or Scottsdale, AZ would be where I would relocate.

And that sucks, but it won’t be the same kind of suck as Nola or BR bc it will still have better demographics

Ehhh. Look at Portland and Seattle. It’s naive to solely blame demographics.

Here's an idea, leave those dystopian hellscapes you mentioned. It has nothing to do with the south.

San Antonio is not bad especially compared to some of the cities mentioned in this thread but it’s gettin worse and I agree with the people saying move to a small town. There are plenty of nice ones, just find one that isn’t overrun by meth heads.

I see a lot of replies of Louisiana born residents wanting to leave the state. I'm from Alabama and not entirely familiar with the state, but is the whole state bad or is it just BR/NO that are having the issues? Isn't Northern and Western Louisiana completely different than Southern and Easter Louisiana? I always thought the state was large enough to get away from the crime in the two mentioned cities.

Agree with what others have said: this is a city issue. Birmingham is a prime example of this. Downtown Birmingham, you'd better have your head on a swivel. Go over the mountain to Vestavia, Hoover, Homewood, and Mountain Brook and it's some of the nicest communities in the south. If someone dies around my house, it's one of the retirement homes losing a guest.

I sometimes daydream about the idea of building completely new cities from scratch so people could have the opportunity to flee the overcrowded, overpriced urban hellholes they are stuck in.

Imagine a city with all modern infrastructure and building materials, completely predesigned for maximum efficiency and enjoyment.

We have SOOOO MUCH good land in this country just sitting there unused or cultivating subsidized soybeans that nobody wants.

We have SOOO MUCH public money that is just being pissed away with hundreds of billions of dollars getting tossed to Ukranian kleptocrats and mindless political advocacy (gender is a social construct!)

We left Mississippi December of 2020 and moved to Iowa. Love it. Better weather. (I definitely prefer Iowa winters to Mississippi summers). Crime is much lower. Landscape is much cleaner. Love it in the midwest.

Considering retiring overseas. Unfortunately the great reset is global.

This is where my mind is. I lived overseas for 3 years recently and although not perfect, I had a great experience.

I'm only 46 so I'm thinking about getting out permanently in about 3 years and not looking back...

Are you trying to be a douche in every thread, or does it just come natural to you?

These things are not regional issues. They are Democrat run cities and the trash that put them in office

Right? Every filthy city is full of democrats and run by democrats.

Just imagine what would happen if the entire country was full of democrats and run by democrats!

An easy solution seems to be to not live in one of these shitholes.

Plenty of nice places to live in the south. I’m perfectly happy in my south Charlotte bubble. Sure north Charlotte is crappy but I can easily avoid it.
