Kalunda (not his real name) has been off the grid lately. Started dating this new chick and stopped coming over. We keep in touch and I still owe him a significant amount of toilet paper. We plan to get together soon to catch up.

Didnt Lamont change his name to Kalunda when trying to get back to his African roots? I dont think Fred was too happy about that.

yes. Fred made fun of him. What little I know of the Swahili language I got from that episode.

When I worked in Kenya I learned that Swahili did not have an alphabet and thus was not a written language until the Brits colonized the area where Swalhili was spoken.

Then the Brits just put the Swahili language in the English (Latin) alphabet phonetically. The result was every Swahili word is spelled exactly as it sounds when spoken.

ETA: I also learned that "hakuna matata" is an actual Swahili phrase that means "there are no troubles" and is also used by restaurant waiters replying to you when you say to them "thank you" as in "no problem."
