Remember with me here, government schooling is only about 200 years old. And while the educated populace improved for the first century, since the 1920s, it's been in decline.
Homeschooling isn't an experiment. For centuries it was the default. The experiment is public education, directed by government, and that is failing.
And budgeting more money for a failing experiment is insanity.
Compulsory education was introduced because industrialists wanted to make sure there were enough people with basic literacy and had enough math skills to work in a factory.
Public education was never created to benefit the student or their families, and it continues to do so.
