OP gave his reasoning for missing said test. I've seen students let off easy for a lot less than that. I wouldn't say it's far off to speculate that the teacher's a dickhead.

Can't stress this enough! I cannot tell you how much slack I was given as a student by simply showing up to a professor's office.

I have a better one
My GPA was .03 from what I needed to get to be given more scholarship money from LSU, I had 5 classes that I was 1 point below the next grade level. That's a one small thing somewhere where I could've gotten an extra point on those grades. Cost me 8000 over the next four years

Had a Quantatative Methods class last semester of college. Final grade was 79.4 (she would round up at 79.5). On the final test I had a very long equation based question marked wrong that I knew was correct. Went to her office, asked her how it should be solved. She showed me how she did it, exactly the way I did it on my test. I pulled out my test and told her I thought that was the correct solution, I just wondered why it's marked wrong on my test (15 point deduction). She stammered and quickly came up with another way to solve it and said that was the way she was looking for it to be done instead. I wasted some breath on the can't you see from your first answer how I might have been lead to solve the question as I did? She wouldn't budge. I got a C instead of an B. Overall grade point average at graduation was 2.995 instead of 3.0+. I still hate that bitch!!!!!! She was known as Nazi whore from hell!!!

Seems to me that you should've been .08% better in the class and you wouldn't have had the issue. You got the grade you deserved. Stop wanting everything given to you. The real world doesn't work on a curve.
Try missing a day of work, unexcused, without vacation or sick days, and see if you get paid for it...
