Well here you go

One of the overnight Amtrak trains leaves the Fort Lauderdale station and goes straight to the miami train station by MIA. It takes about an hour but you do not have to switch trains but it is just one train per day. Brightline or Virgin trains have trains leaving every 30 minutes in the morning. The girl that I am talking to lives in Fort Lauderdale but commutes to UM law school in Coral Gables every day. She says that the train is awesome because it only takes 36 minutes to get to Miami Central in downtown Miami and they have really good deals for commuters.

I just made the drive from the downtown area to Aventura hospital which is right on the Miami-Dade and Broward County line, I was going north (against traffic) and the express lane was wide open so I could drive 85 mph (cops in Miami do not give tickets on the interstate unless you are going over 100) but I-95 south was already a clusterf**k. I would take the train or the express bus instead of fighting that traffic if I had to go north to south and then south to north every day.

You are welcome. Broward and Palm beach county are definitely going to be a better option for you because they are safer. In Miami-Dade you can get safe or you can get affordable, but you can not get both.

They haven’t even broken ground on building that thing yet. The traffic everywhere around the there is brutal. The people drive like crap and there are hit and runs everyday. Miami people love their cars and drive like jackasses. The crime is bad all through the area (but not as bad as South Louisiana).

I hope the pay raise is significant because the quality of life is sure to suffer.

Miami traffic does suck. But so does all highly populous towns. LA- NYC- DFW

If you don't know the area look into Hollywood, esp. east of 56 Ave.

You can hop on the turnpike or interstate very easily to get to MIA, and your wife can take those or even US-1 and SR7 to get to Ft Lauderdale.

Hollywood Hills is mostly single-family homes in the 300-400's but there are plenty of ok apartments for rent on S. Park Rd and around Hillcrest.

Miami Beach is very safe. They don't put up with crime at all because it's a huge vacation spot, and they need those out-of-town dollars flowing in

ETA: The Flamingo is the Melrose Place of SOBE. If I were still in my 20's and single, I'd def try living there

My daughter played a soccer team from Sunrise seems to be alot of Cubans there. I am not being racist but just noticed that. Yes I do know there is also alot of Cubans in south florida.

this is good advice, lived in Juno Beach, Jupiter, Tequesta, and Hobe Sound, worked at MIA, Palm Beach County is as close as I would want to be from Miami-Dade



All great places to live, but I don't know how you can make that commute. You would be looking at an hour and 15 minutes with no traffic.

only had to do it about four, maybe five times a month although I had neighbors that worked conventional jobs in FLL-MIA and did it daily, that would be tough, but as a couple have mentioned, they've improved public transportation a little

In an ideal world, the shorter the commute, the better. I know I can’t have everything, though.
