South beach would be neat but it is like living on bourbon or royal st. no parking ever and tourists everywhere. Brickell is cool though.

Jupiter is the big pilot ghetto, and one of the reasons I kept moving north
nice area, lots to do, getting crowded, if you're on the bus there's flying out of PBI, if no kids yet, I'd look at renting in the keys for a year(not Key West,) I did that and really enjoyed it, some live in the FLL area but it seems like if there are kids in the future, Palm Beach County and north is the place everyone seems to gravitate to, what about, the Naples area?

You want Broward or WPB county if you are planing on having kids soon. Miami-Dade public schools suck and the private schools are $$$. Broward and WPB county public schools are pretty good from what I hear.

While there is a Cuban relationship there is a lot of everything in South Florida. Very diverse as I know people from many Spanish speaking countries here. There are also lots of Eastern Europeans. Again I’m all for diversity as we have it where I live, I just don’t like the people in most of Dade and Broward Counties.

Forty year SF resident that recently retired and moved up the Florida peninsula (and real glad I did). I've worked in Dade and Broward. I've resided in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. I don't feel there is any realistic way you can live in PB County and get to work in Dade.
If you are a pilot, I assume you will not be commuting daily 9 to 5. Also, I will assume your wife will be commuting daily.
Based on that, I would go West Broward, ie. Plantation, Davie and some of the other communities along the I75 corridor (and I595). Some communities are much better than others.
Am I glad I left that place? Fricke yeah!!

I’ll be working from home but visiting offices all over FLL and Miami.
When i checked out Brickell, it was 2300+ per apartment and some parts looked kind of ghetto.
The south beach apartment was slightly less but the view is worth it.
Are the apartments in Miami usually 2250+? I’d def prefer something cheaper but safe and good yuppie type neighbors. I’ll need to make some friends because i won’t know anyone. it’s easier if I live in a yuppie area I suppose. Early 30s.

There are no ghetto parts of Brickell. Even the older stuff is safe. Brickell is bordered by Coral Gables, Downtown, and Little Havana (the good part). The ghetto stuff is just older. Concrete buildings built to withstand hurricanes do not age well.

Join a gym. I met most of my friends either through work or at the gym. Equinox, the Cage, etc and there you go.

This. My kid went to private school when we left the NOLA area and went to public school in Palm Beach County. Not all the public schools are good, you need to check out the area. The areas I recommended, I know people who had kids in public schools. If you think private school tuition in the NOLA area is high, wait to you see what is charged in SoFL.

Beard..... I'll be relocating to Lauderdale sometime in March. Working near Broward Health. I am getting a Condo on the beach in either Galt Mile or Lauderdale by the Sea.
Good thing is I will not have to travel on any of the interstates and if I want to fly home it is a short ride to FLL.

My brother works in Ft. Lauderdale but lives in Light House Point on an inter-coastal canal. He enjoys it.
