recently found an audio cassette of an "interview" I did in 1988 of my grandfather as part of a school assignment. he passed 2 months later
wanted to get it converted to a digital file or even on a USB to have copies to be able to send to other family members
wanted something local rather than risk sending it off in the mail and being lost or damaged
i know a lot of places do VCR tape conversion but dont know about audio
thanks

For $20 on eBay you can buy a device that does it-got all my 1980’s LSU FB games converted…

Nice
Also try Kadair's on Florida near Donmoor. Just across the street from Ziegler Music and Kirk's Has the Works.

But seriously, that Randy Wheeler dude off College Drive can handle that.

Didn't that place close like 10 years ago?

Not to hijack… I have a similar cassette tape with my grandfather on it, but some of the tape has been damaged/crinkled. Any suggestions on how/who to take it to? I’ve avoided messing with it for fear of ruining it.

Yes. So did Radio Shack, Circuit City, CompUSA, and New Generation.
I think that joke flew a bit over your head.

My grandparents found a reel video of their wedding back from 1962. They brought it to Walgreens and they sent it off and had it converted to DVD.
I told them that if they woulda told me they wanted to get this on DVD, I woulda done it for them.

If you want to capture any audio and save it digitally, last I looked there is an easy to use free audio editing program if you have the "Audacity" to use it. The editing program has a good help menu (or maybe find a helpful youtube) that will tell you how to download the plug-in that allows recording. You can record business meetings, speeches, etc. from online sources or any sound through your own microphone. It has easy menus that let you edit, delete, equalize, combine tracks, fade in/out etc.
I have a playlist of more than 800 songs (easily could go to 1,500), including many performances that are not available on streaming services. Still burn CDs to listen to in my car, but the audio files could be transferred to any modern technology device.

Not BR but if you get desperate you can try Memory Lane to Digital in Marrero at Westbank Expressway and Ave. E (across hwy from West Jeff Med Center). Nice lady. She does good work on conversions.

Bluebonnet Library can do this. Call one of the librarians.
