Go to Ton Eighty and and you can try a large assortment and see what you like.
Mine aren't expensive. I have 26 gram Piranha tungsten steel tip darts. They fit me though.

Do all of the leagues play 501?
I'm a Cricket man myself...
You have to try out different sets of darts.
Find the right weight/diameter of the grip and then choose medal tails

I can only speak of the 2 leagues I played in.
They have a league for everything in da parish. Just 01 games, mixed, and just cricket.
In Portland it's a mix of 01 and cricket.

Have good friend that is basically not allowed to play locally anymore...they change the rules all the time to keep him and a fee friends from competing because if they get into a league the trophy and money is theirs.
He's from da parish but lives in Slidell now.

Lol....There's a lot of great players in da parish.
Some of those boys have a team in the city and wreck shop.

I play, but not in a league. I'm pretty good but just don't have the time to commit to a dart league. I have 27 gram steel tip darts. I like them a little on the heavier side of the spectrum.
I use A-Z Darts to get everything I need. Get better shafts, cheaper ones bend and break a lot easier when you robin hood into them.

I'd start with Unicorns (cheap & plentiful) until you find a comfortable weight, barrel size, etc. Stay away from plastic tail shafts and keep plenty of extra flights and shafts on hand. When you do invest in nice darts, DO NOT LEND your primary set (and for league play have matching back-ups for your primary set). By then, you should have plenty of Unis, etc to pass around to buddies for practice/drinking rounds.
I really dislike soft-tips, both darts and boards. It really changes the way you throw and can disrupt your steel tip game. That's my .02 cents, anyway.

I used to play in the Nola league.
Buy all of your dart stuff in the UK. Go to Darts Corner and compare prices. The UK made it illegal to price fix so you can get darts and supplies there less than half of what a good set here would cost. Check out the Designa brand darts. They make almost all darts for most companies and don't pay to sponsor players, advertising etc... You can get darts that would cost $60+ here for $15.
Target Progrip shafts are what all of the pros use and the consensus is that they're the best. Get an array of sizes and and styles in shafts and flights to see which setup you do best with.
You don't need moveable point darts like Hammerheads as dart boards are made much better nowadays. Most will tell you they were pretty much a gimmick even back in the day. No pro actually uses moveable points.

Orleans Darts League plays on Tuesday nights and can be a lot of fun in the Bronze and Silver divisions. They drink and have fun; once you get into the higher divisions, it becomes too intense to really have fun. You play single cricket and 301, then doubles cricket and 501. A couple bars have multiple teams playing. The new season should start in a week or so. Good Luck.

Just went to site you linked and stuff really is cheaper in U.K. Plus it's only like $3 shipping to U.S...i ordered 2 sets of darts in 23g and 25g plus some shafts and flights. Total was like $30.
Thanks for link.
