An Avalanche will actually do truck things since it's a Suburban with a box.
Tahoe, nor Suburban.

I had an ‘05 and then a ‘09 Avalanche.

Wonderful vehicles, I averaged around 50k miles per year on them.

I’d get 22-23 mpg, I’d still be in one if they still built them.

Fun Fact:

The guy at GM who designed the Avalanche moved to Honda and designed the Ridgeline.

Ridgeline has historically been #1 or #2 on the highest American made content list since it's inception. Want to buy a reliable American made truck? Buy a Honda.

Ford is coming out with a new Maverick Truck. I fond Ridgelines are ugly but they do have a good power train.

Domestic trucks, besides be actual trucks, don't have timing belts.

No they don't, but my 2018 raptor had the front of the engine all apart at 35k mi for cam phaser replacement.

Avalanche was Suburban based. Tahoe is much shorter.

Look at the back doors. Tahoe's are cut to fit the wheelwell. Burb and Avi are not notched as their wheelbase is much longer than the Hoe.

The Avi had the locking side storage boxes and coil spring rear suspension long before Dodge. And they didn't have a negative effect on payload nor towing. Hauled 15 sheets of drywall, with the tailgate closed (guy at HD was amazed) and it didn't squat and it towed a 8k pound mini excavator just fine.

I like trucks, but Ridgelines have their place for people that want some hauling capability but don't need to drive a parking space eater to feel safe out on the road.

You are correct sir.

I logged around 450,000 miles in two of them (Avalanches) and concurrently owned a ‘01 Suburban and did not realize this.

With the top half of the rear of the vehicle missing, it just seemed shorter.

Plus I’m a good driver so the length of the vehicle wasn’t an issue.

Of you can't haul an entire sheet if plywood, with the tailgate up, it's not a truck. If you want a truck the buy a truck. Unless you don't haul shite then by all means go for it. My old boss had one. Yet if he had to haul anything he'd have to ask me or another employee who had real trucks. Drove me nuts.

Then 90 percent of what is sold today is not a “truck”. I wonder what the market share is for 8 foot beds.

What modern trucks have large enough beds for a sheet of plywood?

I have difficulty discussing the Brand "Honda" when talking trucks. Just my opinion.

If you have a lot of miles on the f150 and have no need for a real truck, then a Ridgeline might not be a bad idea. Dump the Ford before it starts craping out.
