The cops have my DNA, but I don't want a private company having it.

My dad took the test, and was all excited that he wasn't a black guy. He immediately called me and emailed me the paperwork

I bought a test kit for my wife as a surprise gift. She found it in the mail, opened it, thought it was a DNA test for our kids, called me and chewed me up one side and down the other for a good 15 minutes without taking a breath. We get a kick out of that to this day.

Now that's some funny stuff....

Do you have an Italian grandparent and a grandparent that was half Spanish? Just curious how accurate these are.

My mother took one and half her ancestry didn't match her siblings. It connected her to some people she had never heard of as 1st cousins.

The ancestry she had that her sister didn't have is:
46% Italy/Greece
4% caucus (turkey, Armenia, Iran)

Send them your stuff so they can tell you you are not German... And have you DNA on file "just in case" you step out of line and you need to go...

Found some distant relatives we believe were descended from my great-grandfather's brother who was given up for adoption.

For both of you?

So, you married your twin sister?

I don't want to find out my mother isn't my genetic mother.

I was happy to see people from both my mother’s & father’s extended families listed in my genetic relatives. I’m 6-8” taller than both my parents, so I’ve always been a little “hmm...”

I think there is a bit of psychological social engineering going on, "See we are not that different from each other, we all share some of each others DNA"

My 2 cents

My family has an Italian background, I took the test and was very surprised that I'm only 2% Italian. However, the AncestryDNA test has both pure genetic background test but also a "Genetic Communities" section that identifies areas of the world your ancestry might have gone through, and it specifically singles out Sicily. So likely my ancestors were immigrants to Sicily?

Im
98%+ ashkanazi jew.
1% border finn/russia (karelia)
<1% southern asia.

There are orange dots and blobs on a map. All in tight mass from northeast poland up into lithuania, continuing into southern latvia.
Dots to the east of main blob with most in Ukraine and some in belarus.
Tight pattern all in all.

So it would seem.
Sicily has a big Greek DNA cluster.
By any chance did they say Greek?
Greece had colonies in the era of socrates on sicily.

My brother did and we're as white as the driven snow. Even found out our ancestors came to the new land via the Mayflower
