I know this an OT favorite, but has anyone heard anything definite about USSSA or OTC going forward with the mask mandate? Heard rumblings that this was the last weekend for USSSA due to the masks but nothing official.

wonder how many kids in this year’s MLB draft played travel ball? Going to be 90% range at least. Kids from DR played in baseball academies- travel ball on steroids.

The travel ball season ends on July 31st every year.

So yeah it would make sense that there’s only 1 or 2 weekends left

They expanded through August in our area this year. 4 more chances at a world series ring.

Yeah, obviously they've extended the season this year and I didn't ask about the next two weeks, I asked about the immediate future, i.e. next weekend.

I don't know where you live, but no changes in Alabama.

Eta: other than bringing and throwing in your own balls, bleachers removed or roped off, and soap actually present in rest rooms.

Unfortunately I got exposed to travel ball indirectly through an upper management co-worker last year. He and his wife live through there two sons via travel ball. Who the frick travels all over Texas every weekend to have Breauxdie and Jaxyn play baseball. World series rings and everything. They have a motorhome and all. Jeezus.

My neighbors little kid Claxtyn just finished up his third World Series of the year so far. You have to be really talented to make that many World Series.

I heard that having people wear mask during “feels like” temps near 120 could cause heat stroke.

But not one cares about facts when we can be emotional about a virus so weak you have to get tested to even know you have it.

The guy across the street for us got into it with his son. From what I’ve heard from him, you want nothing to do with it. It’s an unrelenting living hell. It consumes your life. For months on end every week night is spent at the ballpark for practice. Then on weekends you’re driving to bum-frick Arkansas for a tournament. Your weekends are spent in 100 degree heat from early morning to late at night, eating shitty, overpriced ballpark food fried in grease that hasn’t been changed in years before you get to go crash for a few hours in whatever shitty local hotel you can find. Then you get up the next morning and do it all over again.

And to top it all off you’re forking out a fortune for this torture. Between team fees, tournament fees, uniforms, bat(s), bat bag, glove, cleats, helmet (probably custom painted), hotels, gas, food, and all the shite you have to drag to the ballpark like chairs, tent, cooler, toys for the poor younger sibling who has no choice in being dragged across God’s creation, and wagon to pull everything around in, you might as well just take a pile of cash in your backyard and set it on fire.

ETA: and forget about taking a real vacation if you’re in travel ball. Instead of taking a week here and a week there to take your family to the beach or the mountains, you’ll burn all your vacation days 1-2 days at a time for tournaments in random bum-frick towns across the Southeast.

Little Braxton has recovered from the Tommy John surgery on his pitching arm and is ready to dominate again. Our assistant pitching coach needs to ease up on count limits though.
