I know someone that does.

I am wondering if I can get a free lance press pass from them. I know their images are basically taken by the reporter with a simple point and shot. Their more important images come from the AP (and other press outlets), or by the handful of photographers they actually have on staff.

Wrong.

s it really that simple? You don't have to get some type of approval to get a press pass?

Approval from whom? This isn't a Nick Sabin press conference. I can't imagine the police are going to be requesting press passes to approve. I'm just saying or suggesting create a News blog yourself, print out a legit looking pass from your new news organization, wear it around your neck, profit.

Just slap a Fox News sticker on your chest and you'll be the hit of the riot.

Just go to the CBS website and order a Polo, cap and rain gear with their logo. Probably find a lanyard there as well. You can get a photo ID made at Office Depot. Voila!

Then by all means, take all $8000 of it into North BR. Let us know how it goes.

Wrong

I've send them do it while I was covering some events. There would be a reporter there using a point and shoot to grab some images. Now granted, this was for something simple, not a major event like a riot or sporting event.

Professionals have single pieces of gear that are more than $8k. What you have is a moderately nice amateur rig.

If you want to go take pictures, knock yourself out. There isn't much anyone can do to stop you.

No shite Sherlock!!! I have a little better than some amateur rig. I carry professional equipment. Only thing I don't have is the long reach, high quality lenses, like a 400 or 600mm lenses ($5000-$12,000 each). I am hoping that we get a few day notice before the announcement, so I can rent one of these bad boys.

Damn antique, I'm not lying and just trying to be a dick. (I've gotten press passes and have been on the field in the dome and have taken pics with a disposable camera, also in the post game press conference and after dinner meal with families, true story) I was trying to be a nice guy and reach out to someone that is a member of the press. Well I was straight up told your work is shite. And that was with capital letters. I can go look at the exact wording and capitalization if you'd like.

Sorry I had to pass the info along, good luck Boss Man

This post makes no sense. Are you saying my work is shite? So be it, I'll be the first to admit a lot of my work is not good (portraits, landscapes), but when it comes to street photography, my work stands pretty strong. Street photography and journalistic photography are a lot a like, seeing the shot and grabbing it within seconds, not setting up the scene or waiting on it.

I have shot on the sidelines before at a Tulane game. Granted, I don't have a long reach lense (70-200 2.8 is my longest), and couldn't grab the sharp images like I could have with a 400 or 600mm.

I shot for Baton Rouge Symphony last year, shooting many of their private performances and main concerts.

yeah sorry I typed it out a little scatter brained and quick on my phone...

And no, I'm not saying your work is shite... I have zero artistic ability first off, 2nd'ly I've seen some pics you have posted in and around Nola that I enjoyed. I enjoy most art, just suck at it....

And no I mentioned to a friend that Is part isn't the press and has several awards and they told me your work was 'shite', and I 'd at the blunt candid remark I wasn't expecting them came here to tell you... just being OT and all, take it for what it's worth

Don't shoot the messager old timer
