Nephew of mine has been working as a laborer with in Zachry in Port Sulphur.

Buddy of his is getting him on with Turner at another plant as a pipefitter helper.

Apparently him passing this helper test is contingent on him getting this job.

Was wondering if any of y'all know anything about it or possibly have a study guide or something.

I remember when I was working construction they were passing nccer tests around like it was aids. Idk if that's still a thing.

Just trying to help him out.

Baw will fit right in unless there's a grammar test.

If it’s like hamburger helper, he’ll need to know how to brown a pound of ground Turner.

How would he answer the question of how many kilowatts will fit in a bucket?

It's been about 12 or so years since it took it but it was all basic common sense multiple choice stuff if I remember right. Like if the flange has 8 holes how many stud bolts and nuts do you need.

It’s a LOT easier and not as corrupt as the River Pilot Test.

Don’t know if you guys ripping on him realize that Zachry is a construction/maintenance company. Pretty sure he’s talking about that, not the town outside of BR.

They pay really well down there even on the contract side. if he was an ok student in HS, he shouldn't have any problems with the test, but with a quick search of the types of questions on it, a basic knowledge of physics would be be beneficial. He can find practice tests for most industry standard tests just by googling. I know people who got on with the actual company which makes me question their standards, but it is a really good gig.

Traffic through Belle Chasse and near the plant is horrendous so take that in mind for commute. Add at least a half hour both ways maybe a lot more on what should be a 30 min trip.

Didn't know that either, but the first question when I looked it up was.

quote:

1. A canister containing oxygen gas at room temperature (25°C) has a pressure gauge attached. If we add oxygen gas to the canister what will the pressure gauge show?

Pretty straight forward, but hey who knows?

If he knows basic math, he will pass it with flying colors.

While at LSU in the mid '80s, my Dad got me on as a pipefitter helper for Turner over the summer at Exxon,.

The only "test" I possibly passed was when I didn't miss the bus from the parking lot to the plant the first day of work. And I was able to move up the blue collar ladder to lead pipe fitter helper due to my skills at stealing back extension cords from the electricians during lunch. 60 hour week and I made $10 an hour and time and a half. I seriously considered changing my name to Rockefeller.

The correct answer is "Who fricking cares, who taught you how to hold a side grinder?"
