I could see the top of the truck. Right after he drove off I assumed he dropped it in my mailbox.

Yes. I prefer for them to hang on to that laptop I ordered rather than leave it on my front porch when I'm not home.

May have been another fedex truck.
Express, ground, home delivery, and freight are all different companies.

Had security guards at work watching for a FedEx package. I got a text fromFedEx that the delivery could not be completed.
I called the guards. They said the driver parked in front of the building for a while, never got out of the truck, and drove away. They watched the whole time and had it on tape.
I tweeted about it, and FedEx customer service got in touch right away. Driver claimed the building was closed. Not true, and he never even tried to enter.
The dipshits apologized but couldn't fathom any possible way to get my package to me that day, even though this happened about 3 p.m.
The guards did tell me the next week that we had a new Fedex guy. I hate that he got fired (or reassigned) but the fricker should not have been such a lazy assed liar.

I had an Amazon package not reach my house last week, and the online thing said "Address not deliverable". It was ordered via one-click from my Amazon account, where I order 3-4 items a week to the same address.
I online chatted with Amazon instead of the shipping company and they said they'd take care of it. Within 3 minutes, the rep came back to the chat and said it will be delivered before 8PM that same day. Sure enough, it was there when I got home from work. Amazon must have some good professional bitchers to get these carriers to drive back out like that.
Still don't know what the problem was. The package looked like it had a place for a signature, but that doesn't explain why it was called "undeliverable address".

Back in the mid 90's when you coulld still send a firearm back to the factory by fed ex and ups, I sent a weatherby mark 5 back for a warranty issue on their fed ex account. About a month later a new rifle was left on my porch with no one home to sign for it at home. Big letters " Weatherby" all up and down both sides of the box.

I do a ton of online shopping and Fedex here in Lafayette is the absolute worst.. has been the worst since I have been here.
They are the only company that are consistently late with deliveries.
They are also extremely lazy. One time they tried to say they attempted a delivery, however no tag was left and I was home ALL day looking for the package.. it was an important package.. and I kept calling that day and they kept saying give it till 8 pm.. they never showed and next day tried to say driver attempted but no one was home.. lol! I know for a fact this wasn't true as I was home all day looking for them and they had no proof.
Truth.

yup
for me, the driver never left an attempt slip til the last day
and the sender never told me it was sig required...for a 35 dollar item no less!!!!! I was pissed at both the idiot shipper and the lazy assed driver....fedex did nothing about it, I sent a prepaid envelope to finally get it done
dumb and dumber strike again...

FedEx absolutely never leaves packages at my place if I'm not home. I live in in the downtown past of a city though. There would probably be a pretty good chance someone may walk away with it if they did.

Security cameras are cheap and have remedied this situation several times with usps and ups.

What does this have to do with FedEx? The shipper put their name on the side of it.

the DRIVER should be careful not to prominently display
advertising on boxes to mininimize undo attention...like placing behind bushes etc not right out in front of home to tease/temp thieves...
