You're probably just allergic to mercury. Not a big deal.

It will get worse each time and you'll eventually die of epileptic shock.

Not me personally, but I have a good friend that will wind up in a hospital if he eats anything with shellfish in it, even stocks used to flavor food.

Makes going out to eat a challenge, especially in places that do a lot of sauces for their food.

I know two people that are highly allergic to clams. Our vacation was interrupted by a trip to the hospital.

I got food poisoning from some bad seafood lasagna on a night when we also drank a couple bottles of wine. I was so sick for 18 hours that it made me really question my existence on this planet. It was no fun

My guess would be allergic reaction to the iodine in the shellfish. I had it for years. You allergies can and will change and just because you've been able to eat shellfish all your life doesnt mean you always will be able to. I could eat them without issue till I was 18, then couldnt till I was like 32...now, I don't even really like it all that much anymore.

Make an appt with an allergist/immunologist to get tested to see and make sure you've got benadryl with you when you go places....mine got so bad I couldn't even shake peoples hands at crawfish boils.

you have a food allergy most likely iodine.

Shellfish allergy is caused by a protein in the shellfish, not iodine. Because of this, shellfish allergy is not a contraindication to iodinated contrast used in medical imaging. In other words, never let a shellfish allergy prevent or delay a potentially life-saving imaging study requiring iodinated contrast (heart cath, CT pulmonary angiogram, etc.)

Being allergic to iodine is incompatible with life as iodine is required for thyroid functioning.

Bad seafood or just an allergy I've developed?

this.. shellfish allergy. Happened to me 13 yrs ago. Ate it my whole life, now cant even eat anything cooked in same grease. Go see a specialist and find out for sure. It is extremely dangerous, and reactions will continue to get worse. next time your throat could swell and enter anaphylaxis shock.

Hope you savored that meal.

It should be your last. Or just roll in there with an epi pen and keep eating until people start looking at u funny, stab your thigh with epi, and get another plate.

Most definitely a food allergy. I used to eat all kinds of seafood as a kid then in my teen years I couldnt even smell fresh shrimp without breaking out in hives and swelling. Just happened one day but just take an allergy pill and dive in.

Yeah why I really eat seafood unless on the coast. Just in the air makes me want it. An occasion catfish sammich or a nice seafood restaurant.

My sister went to france lasy month, and a place had a lobster press. The press the shell to get the juices out to add to the sauce. The video alone would have your friend breaking out. Ha

Food allergies.
You need to take an antihistamine when that occurs and seek medical assistance. You could swell and close off your esophagus causing you to suffocate.
