I'm actually surprised at how many cars the police find.

When laying tickets on windows is a source of income, they're going to be checking all parked cars and I doubt that the thieves park the correct distance, etc. from the curb.

Friend uptown NOLA has had his aged van stolen twice. No back seats only the driver's seat, no back windows. Might be good for a crime moving something big. Never used for a crime because it's old and persnickity and it never made it out of uptown before breaking down. His owner understands it.

We never had a car stolen in NOLA, we had all stick shifts. Had one burgled in the Quarter. They broke in (not hard) to get a can of beer in a brown paper bag, except it was brake fluid. They then moved bags of cement around in the hatch back's trunk to take the speakers from the broken radio (they traced the wires back there) except there were no speakers) (car work in progress).

This.

My grandparents' car was stolen, from a funeral home of all places. What kind of piece of shite steals a car from people who are dealing with the death of a loved one?

To be fair, it was in New Orleans, piece of shite capitol of the state.

It was found about a week later and it was disgusting. Car was wrecked, piss and shite all over the back seat. Drug paraphernalia everywhere.

Their insurance company didn't total it. It never drove right, or smelled right after that. But they were retired and on a fixed income and had to just deal with it.

frick thieves.

Had one stolen from the front of my house many years ago. Sheriff's office found it abandoned before I even knew it was gone. Luckily, I only had to replace the door lock and the ignition switch.

once when I was 17 or 18. parked my 84 Sierra in the driveway. Woke up next morning and it was gone.
When they arrested the guy he said that he was hiding in the bushes and apparently I walked within 3 ft of him. He mentioned a kid coming home. kinda creepy feeling.

I had a car stolen from the dealership while it was in there for scheduled maintenance. NOPD stopped it in the St Bernard project about 9 months later when they apprehended some perps, they called and told me I could go get it if I wanted.

I had a car stolen. The first car I ever purchased with my own money. Put money into it. I left it unlocked in front of my house. Small town, never thought twice about it. Well some local frick ups, took it, used it to go and break into other peoples shite. Then when they were done, stripped all my stereo stuff out, then took it to the gas station. Took the two dollars in cash out of my wallet to spray $2 worth of gas into the inside. Lit it on fire in a coulee right down the street from my house.

Cops called me, I walked outside and could see the smoke plumes from my front yard. Cops had them arrested by noon. They were caught on camera at the gas staion spraying the gas into my car.

Friend of mine had hers stolen in Jackson. They broke into her apartment, hid till she went to sleep, then grabbed her purse and went out and stole the car. Insurance didn't pay until after 30 days. After they paid, the car was found being used in a bank robbery. Still had the Ole Miss KD sticker on it.

She's lucky they didn't mess with her in apartment.

My sister had hers stolen in NOLA. Guy gets in a high speed chase with the cops and ruined the thing.
