My wife has that, she was a flight attendant then a base manager but they almost crashed a few times then she almost put 4 of her employees on that value jet that crashed abs killed everyone so she freaks out when you hit bad turbulence.
One time she was in uniform and she was gripping my arm so hard her fingers nails were actually drawing blood. I finally told her you have to chill. She was really freaking the other passengers out

Just don't think about the DEI hiring for cockpits and control towers

Only way to shake it is to become comfortable with the idea of letting go and giving up control. There’s nothing you can do to stop the plane from crashing so just sit back and relax. If the plane crashes then it was just your time, nothing you can do to stop it.

I was a bit nervous flying when I was younger but when I saw videos of them stress testing airplane wings, then videos of the hurricane hunters, I never worry about turbulence.
Also educating myself on the physics of flying and how it’s damn near impossible for that bird to not get in the air. Another thing that helps is going to flightaware and seeing the thousands of airliners in the air across the globe at any given moment it hard to argue with the math.

Explain your situation to your doctor and ask for a prescription of a small dose of Ativan. Take before boarding plane. You’ll be good to go.

Airplane in jello
This video helped me quite a bit with regards to turbulence. Due to the air pressure surrounding the plane it’s next to impossible for a plane to crash from turbulence. You can obviously feel the shaking but the plane’s not going to fall out of the sky because it’s surrounded by high pressure.

Yep. Seems like every time I fly I get more anxiety, really weird.

I've always had at least some anxiety about flying, but it's gotten exponentially worse over the last few years.
I'm sure it's partly due to having a friend die in a plane crash in 2019. But that was a private plane.
I used to have no issues with flying and have had all kinds of things happen to me while in the air. But a friend of mine was the only survivor of a small plane crash a couple of years ago and now the turbulence gives me the jitters.
It was really bad in the year or so after but it's getting better. The fact that I fly a ton for work helps I think.

That's probably the biggest issue for me, not being in control.

If you're on a commercial flight, you have a better chance of getting struck by lightning in the middle of the day than being in a plane crash.
Take a chill pill and distract yourself throughout the flight.
I hate turbulence with a passion. I dislike watching the plane ascend and feel like maybe it took to steep of a bank. It's all a mental thing.

Flying into Guatemala City while sitting as an observer in the flight deck was so terrifying that most flights were easy ever after. That whole flying straight at a volcano and then turning to drop between two more onto a very short runway at high elevation is not a pleasant experience. They actually stop traffic on the roadway beyond in case you overrun...
There. Feel better now?

Charlie Brown:
I don't think that's quite it.

How about cats? If you're afraid of cats, you have ailurophasia.
Charlie Brown:
Well, sort of, but I'm not sure.
Lucy Van Pelt:
Are you afraid of staircases? If you are, then you have climacaphobia. Maybe you have thalassophobia. This is fear of the ocean, or gephyrobia, which is the fear of crossing bridges. Or maybe you have pantophobia. Do you think you have pantophobia?
Charlie Brown:
What's pantophobia?
Lucy Van Pelt:
The fear of everything.
Charlie Brown:
THAT'S IT.

Nope, I have no problem flying. Do I have a problem with being herded through an airport and having to deal with some TSA agents? Yes. But that is not a phobia. Just hatred and disgust.

No, but I flew through that Pre-Christmas blizzard twice last year and frick it was white knuckle for hours.
Glad to even make it home. They refused to do drink service on the Billings to Denver flight and even said we were all on the honor system for seat belts, tray tables, and seat backs. They wouldn't even let the attendants get up.
Back in January I was flying to Atlanta from San Diego and before takeoff the pilot announced that it was going to be "rough start" and that they'd try to make the ride as smooth as they could.
Usually I'm good after about a minute from takeoff because I feel the opportunity for danger or pilot error is over. But this time the takeoff was really rocky and the turbulence was severe for the first hour or so.
I was gripping the armrest and clenching my buttcheeks like I bracing for some tender loving from a mandingo in a prison cell.
Most recently, I had a vacation in Maui for the first time and the landing was so scary that the flight attendant was gripping her seat, eyes closed, and appeared to be muttering a prayer in between heavy breaths.
Everyone on the plane was relieved when we landed. Apparently landing in Maui is always rough.

I don’t remember Maui being too rough.
The one I do remember though is flying into/out of Irvine, California. Apparently there is something to do with neighborhood noise so they have to make steep landings/takes offs. A couple uneasy laughs for sure.

videos of the hurricane hunters,
That is a flight I would love to take. Fly through the eye wall of a hurricane. I will have to bring a few extra pairs of drawers for that one.
