re: Anyone else refusing to give in to inflation?

I feel like we just sit and home and be broke, and my wife and I are both 6 figure earners with no car payments.
Wife and I are fortunate enough to be in this club as well, and I’m just not seeing how this is the case. Currently putting a kid through college, big mortgage, and still contributing to retirement monthly, not particularly sweating expenses, etc. Inflation sucks, yeah, but hasn’t really changed my life style or choices at all.
(Disclaimer: this is not a humble brag, grateful to be where I’m at in life, and I worked hard for it, but that’s not the point; just not seeing how you’re in this situation at your income level.)

Yes. For non-necessities. Recently I looked at placing an order for Chinese food. What I like was up to over $14 from $12 and the others were up to $13 from $9. I decided I could find something in my kitchen, instead. As a friend says, “there’s always peanut butter.”

Would be nice if we, collectively, came together and refused to buy over inflated shite.
We do and we are. That’s what the supply and demand curves are. Think of it this way: you don’t think $70 is over-inflated for that shirt; others do. Those others were “getting together” at $70; you decided to “get together” at $99. Whatever the price, some are “getting together” and that’s what sets the price.

$16,666.00 - $5000.00 (taxes) = $11,666.00 (after Taxes). You showed us just under $6K/month in bills (which $600 is not bills, it's cash you're putting in a brokerage account for your kids. Very discretionary). But allowing that, you still have $11,666 - 6000 = $5666 - $6000 discretionary income left over after paying all taxes and bills. After all bills are paid, and your kids brokerage accounts funded, you struggle living off of $6000 leftover cash for discretionary spending?
I downloaded rocket money to see where we can trim spending from.
The month of May we are a little over 10k. Granted that involved a get away weekend with friends and a date night for Mothers Day.
Not quite as big of a surplus as you'd think.

Apparently a lot of my message was taken out of context, I'm saying we have cut way back on things due to the prices. We still have 3 in sports, one being travel, we've gone out of state 3 times this year, and we have a lake vacation planned.
I wasn't here for financial advice, I was saying inflation has driven us to cut certain things because we just aren't willing to pay it.
Ex: our week long vacation to Cape San blas that would have ran us upwards of 6k just in rental fees was cut down to a couple of lake trips.

OP seriously going all William Wallace over a price hike at Rhoback

Me too but I don’t complain about inflation while paying $10 extra for Taco Bell…. That was the point, people have grown accustomed to convenience but it costs more and they bitch about it costing more. Live at or below your means and inflation isn’t as impactful….but it’s almost anti-social behavior to live within your means. Someone on here posted about being broke all the time and putting money in a fund for their kids. That’s a nice gesture but if it’s a financial burden that nicety is beyond your means. The majority of kids have no such fund and wind up surviving somehow. The best thing you can do for a kid is give them time and not be a burden to them when you are old. Kids don’t need extravagant toys and vacations they need and want time and to left the frick alone when they are adults.

I just bought two of their LSU polos. Getting ready for another football season. Got to look good at the tailgate.

I spend money on things that most people would think is strange. I'll drop $250 on a woodworking square like it's nothing. I just got a Woodpeckers 18" protractor for $250 because accuracy and precision are important in woodworking layouts.
But I might have like 5 decent polo shirts, because I only dress like an "adult" when I go on vacation.

I've stopped buying anything except beer occasionally.
My wife offsets it by buying more shite than she ever did.

You should look up how taxes really work

How does that work?
The limit is $23.5k/ person. Two people equals $47k, rounded to $50k for ease of argument.
Forgot some of you are stupid and can’t understand context. Mingo regrets the error

It wasn’t taken out of context, you were just full of shite. You conveniently forgot to mention you drop $20k a year for junior to play left field

I don't. Not every idiot that plays travel ball spends that kind of money.
3 out of state trips and dues for the year probably cost around 2k. Still an idiot, but not a 20k idiot.

You do not stay 6 nights in a hotel, eat out, buy uniforms, pay dues, buy equipment, etc for $2k.
You want to feel like some rose up from the rubble poor man making top 5% income. It’s weird behavior
