National World War II Museum Air Power Expo

I went last year and it was absolutely fun and interesting as hell. I'm thinking about purchasing a plane ride on one of the cheaper planes for my Father's birthday this Saturday. What do you guys think of this? Are any of you going to go to it? I know it's the same weekend as the LSU / Alabama game. But, you could always go on Sunday or Friday, too.

I'll be out of town for it this year. I'm extremely disappointed. Fantastic show.

He was an awesome gent and proud to tell his story.

It gave me the frissons being around the planes and hearing Mr.Picheloups' and other stories

I saw what looked like two in formation today with a smaller plane taking pictures, I'd assume.

I went to today with my father and son. It was a great day. I've been fascinated with World War II since I was a kid and this was the first time I got to see so many warbirds up close, and never thought I would get to see some of them fly, too. My son takes after me and loves World War II history so he was excited about it all, too. Here are some of my favorite aircraft:

B-17
My favorite bomber. My great-uncle flew these with the 385th Bomb Group out of England, and only just passed away a few years ago. He shared his stories with me while growing up and he fascinated me. We were able to go through the inside of the aircraft.

B-29
He also flew these after the war out of Fairbanks, Alaska while part of SAC. Fifi made several flights today.

P-51

F4U Corsair

P-40

Spitfire
My favorite fighter from World War II. One of my topics of interest was the Battle of Britain.

I got to see the B-29, P-40, P-51, Spitfire and several others in flight. Three T-6 Texans (there are no flyable Zeros around) were painted with Japanese markings and "attacked" the airfield. They were three of the aircraft used in the movie "Tora Tora Tora." There were plenty of other aircraft there, as well as a Stuart tank, jeeps, half tracks, etc.
